Groundpounder
Just took delivery of a 2016 Edge. Love it, but the headlights suck. Has anyone installed some aftermarket lights to improve things? From what I can see, it would be hard to mount anything to the front without some pretty extensive modifications, everything that looks like it would be a nice surface to mount something to is just plastic without any structure to it. gjb89
I considered mounting a 20" single row led bar behind the grille. i just dont have the time to create the brackets and do all the fitting.

If someone could come out with a bracket like that, or some sort of mounting system for lights below the grill, they could make millions of dollars. Maybe even billions. enigma-2
Too much light would exceed FMVSS and all state DOT laws. Running with these on could get a nasty ticket.

Nick Halstead
what was your previous car? most people coming from cars with non projector lighting always have a problem adjusting to the direct beam projector headlight

For very little money (around $20), you get a lot more usable light. The factory halogens are long life & these are a huge improvement. They're not HID's, but very decent upgrade for cheap: http://www.toyota-4runner.org/showthread.php?t=150621
Groundpounder
what was your previous car? most people coming from cars with non projector lighting always have a problem adjusting to the direct beam projector headlight Nissan Rogue. That is a possibility, but Consumer Reports wasn't very pleased with the headlights either: The standard halogen lamps fall short on forward and sideward light, making it hard for a driver to see and react to something in or on the side of the road ahead. The lamps also include some streaking and unevenness in the low-beam pattern, hurting the overall uniformity of the light. These test findings create a poor perception overall. HID (xenon) lamps are optional on the Titanium and Sport Trim.
Nick Halstead
Yeah you would be amazed at how many lights CR doesnt like but yet in the lighting community we rate them as cream of thr crop. Halogen lights will perform the best in your projector. This may help you out https://www.hidplanet.com/forums/forum/general-discussion/halogens/1409801-ryan-s-guide-to-halogen-bulbs
Groundpounder
Well, bulbs won't improve the beam pattern, and the beam pattern sucks.
Nick Halstead
if you don't like the beam pattern it's because it's a projector headlight and your used to reflective housing headlights which throw light in almost 360 degrees. Projectors focus the light where it's needed instead of losing it to the sky.my question to you is, do you think this looks good?
Groundpounder
Not bad. Too bad you have to spend $100's to get adequate light from a brand new vehicle.
Nick Halstead
the pic I posted is a perfect cutoff for low beam set up. I have found that most people don't like the focused beam pattern of halogen projectors because they are used to stuff that looks like this high beam photoHigh Beams on.
Groundpounder
Well that's great, but there is a large dark area directly in front of the car I drive, and the beam pattern generally stinks.
WWWPerfA_ZN0W
Make sure the headlights are aligned properly. Not uncommon to be off-kilter from the factory.

I'm going to assume that this photo really doesn't do justice to the actual lighting produced. Yes, it has the cutoff that online forums always tout as being the ideal configuration... but in practical terms, based on that photo, the lighting is terrible. There's too much light in the foreground and it's not even lighting far enough down the road to see the curve ahead that you see in the high beam photo. What's the distance to the curve... about 50 yards? That means you would be overdriving the headlights at just 30 miles per hour (you couldn't stop within the illuminated distance). If it's not just the photo then maybe the aim is off? Edited October 2, 2016 by TheWizard
