Edge385
Hello, We picked up a 2016 Edge SEL AWD and its been perfect for our family, my only small gripe is the double honk the vehicle gives when I exit with the key in my pocket and vehicle running. I know this is a safety item but when getting home late and getting out to check mail I would rather not bother the neighbours. Is it possible to mute this warning or do I need to learn to leave the key in the vehicle? Thanks.
Hermans
Leave the key in the vehicle when you do this.
cv27
Leave the key in the vehicle when you do this. Or leave with the key, but shut the door only to the first lock/catch position.
akirby
Leave the key in the vehicle. Don't close the door all the way. Turn it off. There is a procedure posted elsewhere on the forum to turn it off with forscan software but it's really not necessary. Edge385
Thank-you for the responses, it looks like behaviour modification is the key LOL. I'll search for the forscan route to see what is involved also.
Tjm623
Forscan involves a $70-$80 OBD II device that can be used for a multitude of other things besides getting rid of double honk. Including, reading error codes and getting data from modules to see how the car is running, things are working properly. It's an investment im glad I made. With different software it can be used in any vehicle that has the port(every car at this point I believe) Forscan is ford specific software, hence the name. But I've tested it in three models and works flawlessly. If you go to their website and read up on the forums a bit / are comfortable following directions, getting rid of double honk is a 5-10 minute task tops. If the directions on the software and how to program stuff makes sense PM me and I'll give you the code to change it. If the directions don't make sense I honestly wouldn't suggest messing with it as you are at that point screwing around with the computer modules built in data on a 30k+ vehicle and could screw something up. Regardless there is a ton of info on this software and what to do on YouTube, google etc. just need to do the research. Hope that helps
Edge385
Thank-you for the info, I'm used to working on my truck but it's only electronics is a MSD setup. I'm interested in learning more about how this vehicle works and will read through the info and let you know about the code.
