112235
On my 2016 Edge SEL with rear camera, the back up lighting disappears at night when headlight switch is in the on or auto position when I shift to reverse. If I switch head lights off, I get full back up lighting on the screen. Dealer told me that nothing can be done. Begs the question, why dim the back up vision when dark? James Costa
Hi there, Sounds like you are talking about the backlight on the interior display, rather than the rear backup lighting itself. One thing I have noticed at night, when you have the headlights in Auto or On position, it will automatically dim the backlight of the interior display as it goes into Night mode, probably because the display is set to 'Auto' mode. On your Sync display, if you navigate to Settings > Display, there should be an option to change the screen backlighting to one of four options -- Off, Auto, Day, or Night. If you set it to Day, the screen will maintain at full brightness (which is what I suspect you are looking for), but be aware that the regular display screens will have the light 'Day' background as opposed to the black 'Night' mode one. If you are like me, you'll find the 'Day' mode to be extremely bright while driving at night, possibly even unsafe, so give it a shot and see what options you like. Hope this helps. Begs the question, why dim the back up vision when dark? because if it's too bright it will be a distraction and, the reverse cam is not meant to replace your mirrors as the main backing aid, only assist you. Granted I use my camera solely 99% of the time now. I still look at my mirrors first.
112235
Yes J, I am referring to the sync3 display & your solution sounds reasonable. I will leave home before daylight tomorrow morning so I 'll try your suggestions. I got used to the system on my 2012 Edge that had back up display vision at night almost like day time, so I reasoned that the 16 would be the same. Using mirrors only seems inadequate to me. Thanks to all responded. Max
