Low throttle surging

I have a 2008 ford edge that I just purchased 10 months ago. I had it to dealer for a recalled fuel tank replacement. A short time ago I had it for a drive which I don;t drive much because it is the wife car. I noticed that soft throttles it surges but at aggressive throttles it doesn't. The wife says it has been doing this since fuel tank replacement which was many months ago so going back to dealer is probably a waste of time. She also tells me that at 160 to 180 kms to empty the low fuel light comes on and goes to 0kms to empty on the display. has anyone had this problem any any idea where to start looking for problem.

IDK. Possibly inaccurate metering of fuel? Just to rule out the throttle body, you should take the air intake tube off and see if there's any crud buildup around the throttle plate. Give it a good cleaning with MAF cleaner and a rag/soft nylon bristle toothbrush. If the throttle plate is sticking, that should take care of it.

How many KMs on your Edge, btw? Do you know if the spark plugs & PCV valve have ever been replaced? Air filter? If these all check out ok, then try running a quality fuel injector cleaner through the gas tank. I have found Techron and BG 44K to be the most effective so far.
