Burrcold
I noticed today that the spoiler on my 16 Sport (white platinum) has no pearl at all in it. It's flat white and the white doesn't even match that well (I know that can be because it's a plastic piece). Can anyone else take a look at their spoiler and tell me if it has the pearl top coat white platinum should have? I stopped in the dealer but they only had Oxford White models there
Nick Halstead
got pics? I have a white edge sport local to me here on base, I'll try and catch a look next time.
Burrcold
Here's a picture, although very exaggerated since I took it in the dark with a flash. The actual white vs white isn't nearly as noticeable in normal lighting. But if you look closely, you can see the spoiler has no pearl "tri-coat" when compared to the rear quarter panel. enigma-2
My 09 MKX is platinum white and the spoiler is black (matches the BAMR & back window). Think white does look better.
Tjm623
I have platinum white but an SEL I'll check in the tomorrow and see if I notice any color difference. If it's there it's not enough to have notice detailing my car twice already
Burrcold
Thanks guys! It's very hard to see the difference in regular daylight. The sun has to be hitting it at just the right angle or (like I did) hold a light source to each panel that will reflect the pearl.
jmr061
Looks like that needs to be repainted or replaced.
akirby
Those may be painted offsite like bumpers - maybe they just picked up the Oxford white part by mistake. Should be easy to fix.
Burrcold
Went to a different dealer today and it's definitely Oxford White. LOL stupid assembly people. Just at my original dealer now booking an appointment to get it changed. They were pretty embarrassed that such a mistake could happen. I told them I was embarrassed for thinking it was normal! akirby
I wouldn't necessarily blame the assembly line. It could have been mislabeled by the supplier and as you found out yourself it's not that easy to spot immediately. Now if it was a red spoiler on a white car........ Burrcold
I was just kidding with blaming the assembly line. I've worked as a project manager for many of the automotive manufacturers to know where things can go wrong, and who has responsibility to check. it could have happened on delivery to the dealership, damaged in transit and they ordered the wrong color as a replacement (this one was brought to my dealer from another that had it in stock so my dealer would not have known). Platinum White
I just checked mine. The spoiler is Platinum White just like the rest of the car.
Burrcold
It was funny seeing all of the platinum white models today that definitely had the platinum white spoiler. It was almost silly how my spoiler looked when I got back to my car. I'm pretty OCD about stuff so I can't believe that I didn't notice it! The dealer is going to look at all the panels and gaps now so I'm pretty happy! Hopefully they don't break something else while fixing all of this!
