accordngs Posted August 23, 2016 Report Share Posted August 23, 2016 Hey all: In around End April to early May I purchased 22's for the Edge and quickly hated the wheel gap. I went ahead and installed the H&R lowering springs shortly thereafter with all new struts at the same time. It has only been about 3.5-4 months since installing the springs and I today noticed pretty bad uneven tire wear on the inside of the rears. It is already to the point that metal belt is starting to show through. Fronts seem fine so far. Obviously this shouldn't be happening this fast so I must have a camber issue. Just by eyeballing it, it isn't too bad but obviously that is not the case. So what have you guys done on here for adjusting the camber. I did a search and saw some people said no aftermarket kit was necessary and others went with the Eibach kit. I have had so many lowered cars in my days and never had such bad wear so fast. Was thinking it would be more gradual and I would get the alignment done if wasn't looking good. Now my concern is that without a camber kit the alignment won't cut it. That was why I was curious how others handled it. I have 20" wheels , H&R springs. Had alignment done after install. No issues w alignment within oem specs. H&R designed these springs so that a camber kit is not necessary Maybe I should try to get an alignment done before getting a camber kit. zillafreak Posted August 24, 2016 Report Share Posted August 24, 2016 Should always get an alignment after doing suspension work. You lowered the car, you also installed new struts. accordngs Posted August 27, 2016 Author Report Share Posted August 27, 2016 Lesson definitely learned. Guess for the past 20 years I've been very lucky. I've probably owned about at least 7 vehicles that had either suspension work and/or after market larger wheels and never had an alignment issue like this. Nonetheless, I type this message as I'm sitting in the alignment shop searching for costs on 2 new tires. Lol.... Turned out mine was pretty significantly out of specs for both camber and toe which is why the tires wore down so quickly.
