Fordedgesport2016
Ok Do you guys thisk this is normal? Oops it is crooked 397km till empty ... On full tank Edited August 29, 2016 by Fordedgesport2016
Tjm623
Do you reset this when you fill up? I always reset this and trip 1 on each fill up. Otherwise that average is from the last time you reset it which could have a lot of bad tanks depending on how you drive
WingNut
I'm averaging just above 20mpg. My driving is 99% 'city'.
Omar21
Hey guys new here, and I've seem to be doing something wrong since my edge is only getting 13mpg at most.
akirby
What is your normal drive cycle? Less than 5 miles? Short trips will kill fuel economy on almost all cars.

akirby
Yes, if you're only averaging 10 mph that would do it.
Omar21
What is your normal drive cycle? Less than 5 miles? akirby
Averaging 40-50 mph for the whole trip or only while you're moving? How much stop and go traffic? How are you calculating mpg? Have you reset the computer display?
Omar21
I usually drive on the highway so not much stop and go. I reset the display after 1k miles
akirby
Try filling up with premium and resetting the avg mpg and see what you get. You could also try using a different gas station. It's possible you're getting bad gas below 87 octane. Also make sure your tires are inflated properly and you're not dragging a boat anchor. Omar21
I'll give premium fuel a try hopefully a cents more at the pump could save a lot in the long run
Tjm623
I'd start with checking here http://www.toptiergas.com/licensedbrands/ If the 87 you are using is not from one of these retailers, start getting it from one that is. Then try 91 or 93 after a few tanks of better 87. I never cared before I had a truck. Cheapo gas stations 87 grade would consistently give me 2-3 mpg less than 87 grade gas at a station that is top tier.
akirby
I'll give premium fuel a try hopefully a cents more at the pump could save a lot in the long run The only reason I suggested premium is to eliminate the possibility of less than 87 octane. Normally it won't buy you more than 1 or 2 mpg at most - not enough to offset the added cost.
Tjm623
I figured, which is why I posted a site that shows high grade
junehhan
I'll give premium fuel a try hopefully a cents more at the pump could save a lot in the long run Our engine is rated on premium so it may be worthwhile from a performance standpoint in your climate. Motortrend tested about a half second difference to 60 mph and the 1320 in the Edge Sport when on regular. If you have a Costco membership, they have excellent prices on top tier premium. Omar21
I guess I'm gonna be experimenting with fuel for the upcoming weeks.
