Katie Belton
While driving down the highway today I felt a hard shift followed by the wrench warning light. I quickly pulled over and shut he car off for a few minutes. When I went to start it up again I felt a hard clunk, but no warning light. I turned it off again and when I restarted everything was fine... no light and running well. A little background: I've had the MKX for about a year and it occasionally shifts hard. I also had to have the PTU replaced about 6 months ago. Last week I had to replace the cooling fan and I used the quick replacement method. I'm wondering if I could have knocked something loose while replacing the fan. Based on other things I've read on the web, it seems like this could be an intermittent fluke that happens with Edges and MKXs. Any ideas? Also, what kind of code reader would an MKX owner buy and approximately how much do they cost? Thanks to everyone who helps on this site. It has been invaluable.
macbwt
Get an Bluetooth OBDII links MX and the Forscan App. I will be posting a video on this device and the apps to show how to use it. Time to start planning on the eventual failure of the TSS and OSS sensors.
Katie Belton
Thanks Mac. Any suggestions on where to order the parts from? Also, when ordering them, do you order two of the same parts? I seem to be able to find the oss sensors, but no one carries the tss sensors. Is this because they are literally the same part? WWWPerfA_ZN0W
Any dealership should have both sensors. Also look to Autozone, they have Duralast branded sensors. NAPA should also carry both. TSS should be 8A8Z-7M101-A or very possibly AA5Z-7M101-A, Motorcraft DY1241 OSS should be AA5Z-7H103-B or Motorcraft DY1221 Edited August 21, 2016 by WWWPerfA_ZN0W
Katie Belton
I found the part that corresponds with the number for the TSS but partsgeek.com says it is for the 2011-2017 Edge. Is it the same part for both generations?
WWWPerfA_ZN0W
should be same for 2007-2014 3.5's for sure (I think the 3.7's also). Not 100% on the 2015+ 3.5's 2007-10 http://www.fordpartsgiant.com/parts-list/2007-ford-edge/transmission-modules-and-sensors.html?Filter=(30393;36997) 2011-14 http://www.fordpartsgiant.com/parts-list/2011-ford-edge/transmission-modules-and-sensors.html?Filter=(30393;36997)
macbwt
Katie, Do you ever get the feeling that you might know WWWPerfA_ZNOW and macbwt from another group on facebook? I found the part that corresponds with the number for the TSS but partsgeek.com says it is for the 2011-2017 Edge. Is it the same part for both generations?
Katie Belton
As a matter of fact, yes. You guys are the best. Once we complete the OSS/TSS replacement, this forum, along with the Facebook page and the videos, will literally have saved us thousands of dollars. I can't thank you enough. By the way, I ordered both sensors today. They should arrive in a couple days. Going to do the job this weekend. I will let you know how it goes. Thanks again.
