Katie Belton
I just replaced my cooling fan with an aftetmarket one. I think it was like $140. The new fan is so loud and vibrates so hard that I'm beginning to think there may be a problem. Has anyone else had this experience with an aftermarket replacement fan? Is this just because I ordered a cheap fan? I would order a higher quality one and replace the one I just got but it was such a pain to remove and install. enigma-2
I just had mine replaced by the dealer and they are very quiet and no vib. Hard to beat Motorcraft even if you have to pay double.
WWWPerfA_ZN0W
what brand did you buy, Katie? Did you have to unbolt the assembly at the bottom? Make sure the bolts are torqued down. Could always be a defective assembly of course.
Katie Belton
I went back to the website I ordered it from and looked up the part number but can't find a brand name (probably not a good sign). I didn't have to unbolt the assembly at the bottom. I'm going to double check that it's torqued down and seated on those little mounting ears properly. WWWPerfA_ZN0W
What is the part number? Dorman brand is 621-392 and TYC brand is 622040 (non-towing)

If it works and is just loud and you can live with the loud noise. Go with it. If you want to change it go with the Motorcraft. This all depends on if you can get your money back for the current fan.
WWWPerfA_ZN0W
Spectra has a nice warranty on the fan, but I would still go Motorcraft ultimately if I could: http://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/ford,2007,edge,3.5l+v6,1434490,cooling+system,radiator+fan+assembly,2181
Katie Belton
When I ordered it I thaught how much difference could there possibly be? Now I know: you get what you pay for. I'll probably keep it. I'll probably jack up the front end this weekend and make sure it's seated properly.
