CapeDave
The problem is, that is where my body touches the car and is therefore a critical factor. The issue is this: The bottom seat cushion has two "side bolsters" or whatever you call them. They are like parallel tracks, and they should veer out naturally in a mild V shape. That is problem one. Problem two is that they are too deep. Or tall, depending on how you look at it. Problem three is that they are too HARD. And problem four is that they are too NARROW. Like for a child. The outside of my hip bones (I am average, neither fat nor skinny and 64 years old) sits on the side bolsters and eventually rest on the metal bar under the bolsters. Not enough padding. I have already started using a cushion I had laying around to lift my butt off the seat. It is not perfect, but maybe if I can find the right size and shape cushion then I will be able to attain the comfort I need. The thing that makes me mad is that this cushion solution obviates my favorite feature of any car, yup, the heated seats. If there were an option for 22 or 30 way adjustable seats (like they have in the Lincoln version of this car), I would have ponied up in a heartbeat for them. Instead, they vary the seats with the model of the car which is, to me, insane. I lease, and think maybe that limits my options. This is such a shame, because with proper seats, Ford would sell so many more cars. If I could have just one beer with the "seat guy" at Ford, I know I could convince him. I like so many things about this car, but this is an issue that I feel could affect my health. Too much pressure on bones for long times cannot bode well. I feel like going to a Lincoln dealer and make them put their seats into my car, or maybe take this car back and give me a Lincoln version of this car. I test drove so many cars for over two years up to a BMW X5 for almost 60K and liked the Edge the best. But this seat thing only reared its head after about 5 days of driving. Until then, I thought maybe it would soften up or did not notice it due to all the other things I was paying attention to. Keep everything the same but give me 2 inches more width and that might do it. I do not think an upholsterer can accomplish that. But maybe they could work some magic. I guess my next move is to find a memory foam type of car cushion and at least use that temporarily until I can get the best resolution available to me. I really like this car. Except for the seat. Funnily, as I was searching for the perfect car, I was paying more attention the the length of the bottom cushion, as I like support under my thighs. I did notice this cushion was about 1.5 inches less that I would prefer, but figured that was something I cold learn to live with. But this issue causes actual discomfort, and so it completely blindsided me. Pay 42K for a car and then having to put a cushion on the seat does not sit well with me. Yeah, a pun. Please Ford, listen to me and help me. I want to be your biggest fan. Thanks all for listening. enigma-2
I doubt that these are something you could consider, but maybe something like these would help. http://www.beddinginn.com/product/Super-Warm-And-Comfortable-Patch-Short-Plush-Material-Car-Seat-Cover-11052914.html?c=USD&gclid=CjwKEAjwoPG8BRCSi5uu6d6N5WcSJABHzD8Fd3jFGbnIcJ1wivhgsKQg1amoEiQsfFXAE29a6u5v5RoCJd_w_wcB

I have already ordered these two items from Amazon and will use which works best. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00BD2TVKO/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B018QP21XY/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I am heartbroken that which ever of these works best it will cancel out my ability to use heated seats. That is a must have. Have had it for the last 15 years in all my cars. I had a friend who is a completely different shape/age than myself and he also said they were uncomfortable due to narrowness and hard bolsters. enigma-2
One other possibility, have you played with the power lumbar in the seat? I find pumping it up changes the comfort of the seat.
