Yankeesgirl05
I just bought a 2011 edge limited and the dealer said it comes with a warranty but of course I have an issue and they won't fix it. . .first when I turned it sounded like sand being poured out then water started dripping in from below the glove box . . .a genius on this forum said a/c drain was plugged and to use an aquarium gravel vacuum and sure enough about a gallon of water drained out but my vents stopped working. I have no air no heat no defrost or rear defrost. I changed the cabin air filter which was disgusting and still no air circulation I then changed the blower motor resistor and still nothing. The controls light up but nothing cones out but it feels cold up by the vents. How do I change the blower motor? I am a 29 year old female. . .can I do it? I did all the other repairs myself? Please help I will not be screwed by the dealerships again!
enigma-2
May very well be the HVAC Control Module (common point to all the problems you reported).. 1) Start by verifying fuses #45, (5 amp), #37 & #15 (10 amp) in the smart junction box (fuse panel). 2) Verify fuse #63 (40 amp) in the battery fuse panel (in engine compartment). The HVAC Control Module is what sends a signal to the blower motor to run (and at what speed). The HVAC Control Module also controls the heated window. If all the fuses are good, it could verify well be a defective module. It's located behind the radio in the center instrument panel.
Yankeesgirl05
Thank you so much for your help. I changed the blower motor myself and its working great it was filled with nasty orange water! Hopefully it completely fixed the problem but I will definitely keep that in mind? enigma-2
Glad to hear it. I cant see how changing the HVAC motor would have any effect on the front or rear defrosters. Are both working now? Edited July 18, 2016 by enigma-
dre2142
My fan is making a clicking/whirring noise.I have a 2010 Limited- DUAL zone. Can I get away with one of the cheaper replacement fans or do I need the motorcraft replacement? (MM966, #7T4219805A)? Dont want to throw too much money to it as I plan to trade in sooner than later. WWWPerfA_ZN0W
If you are sure it is the fan and not a BDA, Dorman or TYC should work fine. Easy enough to replace if you have to go after it again.
