Can I take it to highway or wait till 3000 miles ?

Absolutely. If you check the first few pages of your Owner's Manual you'll see that it just recommends that you vary the RPM, so don't leave the cruise control on one speed for long periods. I would vary your speed by at least 10 mph every 15-20 minutes and it probably wouldn't hurt to stop every hour or so, even if it's just for a couple of minutes.

drive it!

personally...I would never let something like this stop me from driving the car. you bought the car to use it.. heck... use it. I just did an 800 mile round trip in 2 days to AZ having only about 200 miles on mine.. I bought it to use it, so I use it .. and I used the CC 99% of the time on open highway - was not going to spend my time/life monitoring speed and slowing and speeding and slowing and speeding and stopping... bah - I got places to go and people to see :)

I took our first trip in our Edge 800 miles RT with 230 miles on the OD. Cruised at 85 down I88 with the cruise on, You normally vary speeds when passing and slowing anyway. That is what mfg warranties are for! Take the trip, use the cruise, don't baby it, use it. I have over 5K on the OD now, and my only complaint with my Edge was that the seat was too hard. This has been taken care of and now it is all gravy!

If you drove your first 1000 miles correctly, which is sounds like you did, you should be fine.

But remember, an engine can take 3000, 6000 or even 12000 miles to fully 100% break in (depending on engine and car). I just passed 1000 miles myself and I am now on the highway. As akirby states, try to vary RPM. But I dont think there will be much variation in RPM with 10MPH delta.

However, how long do you plan to keep the car? If this is a lease or you get new cars every 5 years, I would be much less worried. I on the other hand need to keep the vehicle for a minimum of 8 years so proper break in necessary - which means no long trips until I pass 3000 miles. But I am anal about things like that and when I spend $30K on a car, I expect it to last.

Legally, after 1000 miles according to Ford you are good to go.

Good Luck and much fun wishes
