ben senise
i've had my 2016 titanium for a little over a month now and have come across a small problem. when i press the "easyfold" button on the left rear quarter panel in the storage area to fold the seats, the left (driver) side rear seat does not go down on its own. right side works fine and i can manually fold the seat from the rear driver side door. it just doesn't work with the button. just wondering if anyone else has had a similar issue and if so, did you find an easy solution. my dealer offers a complimentary 90 day check-up so i will raise the issue with them then but just seeing if there's an easy fix i can do on my own. TourGuide
I also noticed this problem with my 16. It sounds to me like the same exact situation - I can manually fold the driver side, but it will not operate with the switch - right side works fine. I plan to have it corrected at the first oil change appointment.
PaulSchott
Can you hear the motor trying to work or is it just dead? Could be switch, motor, wiring. If it's under warrantee let them worry about it You could pull the plug on the motor and test for power when the switch is used. also test for power on each side of the switch to see if power is getting through the switch. your getting power to the switch if the other side works. In my case - I can hear the motor trying to actuate the seat - but it isn't moving the left side.

Binding or broken spring. Is the seat reclinded? seat is not reclined. it appears as though the spring is just not strong enough to pop it forward when the latch disengages. i'll let the dealer take care of it, if they can, but i was just wondering if anyone else had this problem. interesting that TourGuide has the identical problem. James Costa
I also experienced the exact same problem the other day on my 2016 SEL, havent looked into it yet. the right side works fine, but go to drop the left/middle seat, and nothing, but you do hear the motor noise trying to work. same as tourguide and ben senise. akirby
May just need to work the seat back and forth a few times to loosen it up.
TourGuide
Seat moves under spring pressure. Binding or broken spring. Is the seat reclinded? I have verified that the seat is not reclined. This will be my first verified warranty claim.
davidceder
2016 Sport here, same exact problem. Figured it was just tight because it is new. Doesn't bother me very much. No big deal for me except it doesn't work as advertised. I will hang out and what you guys come up with.
enigma-2
Just curious. Does the seat fold manually after its released?
WingNut
I have used this feature on my '15 many times with no issue. Have the dealer check it out.
akirby
I would try working it back and forth a few times to see of it loosens up before taking it to the dealer.
Michaelv50211
Same problem on my 16. If you manually do it a few times and try it will work. It's almost like the back seat bottom is so thick it stops it from folding.
TourGuide
I would try working it back and forth a few times to see of it loosens up before taking it to the dealer. I did try this - I worked it a few times and now it is folding - although the folding isn't prefect, it does work. I certainly wouldn't call these seats 'fold flat' by any means. ben senise
I would try working it back and forth a few times to see of it loosens up before taking it to the dealer. i did this and it seems to have improved the situation. i haven't tested it that many times since i rarely fold the rear seats down. James Hopson
We asked at the dealer about this very thing and was told Ford designed it like that and it was functioning correctly. Seems wrong to me but we took but he said they tested a few other Edge's on the lot and they all do the same thing (mine was a new 2016)
gary255
I don't understand the logic of Ford saying that it's designed to function this way but mine does the same thing.
gary255
I looked at a lot of youtube videos with the dealer walkaround showings of the 2016 Edges and every time they would demo the seat folding feature the same issue would show up. omar302
Those having the issue, do you press & release the button or press & hold it? In my MKX (though an older generation) you have to press for a second or so.
jmr061
There is actually a service bulletin the driver side rear flip down portion. If it doesn't release to a certain angle they will replace some parts in it.
