Prissybookworm
AC just stopped working today, was running fine an just quit. No noise or any indication that there was an issue. Controls lights up like its on but there is no power going to it. Freon is full, fuses are fine, just no power. It's hot here in Florida. Has anyone had this issue? Prissybookworm
Hubby said there's no power to fan motor and compressor.
WWWPerfA_ZN0W
So no air is blowing out the vents? Any difference putting the controls on HEAT? The blower motor is a common culprit, as is the blower motor resistor/fan speed control. Ā Do you change the cabin filter regularly (or wash the screen regularly)? If the blower is having trouble, it may be caused by obstructed airflow.
enigma-2
Try placing the a/c in max position, see if there's any response.
Brian K
I know you said the Freon is full, but are you sure? When monkeying around with an A/C system on another vehicle that wasn't working, I recharged it and then the compressor and fans turned on, but there was a leak in the system and after the pressure dropped below a pressure switch setting it all stopped again. Sounds like what yours is doing. I used a small refrigerant bottle and those hoses with a gauge on it to see the pressure raise when I was filling it and drop off and I could hear hissing where the leak was. I tried a leak sealer but I guess the leak was too big and it didn't work. Please let us know what the problem was.
kathleen
My A/C stopped blowing on a road trip back from Florida over 4th of July week/weekend in Texas. Talk about an unhappy camper. I still haven't taken it in to a shop because all it takes is going over a bump to get it to kick back on again. Sounds like a short to me and I know I should be concerned, but money is an issue so until I have the cash no one please give me a hard time about it. Just my two cents. WWWPerfA_ZN0W
What year Eddge, Kathleen? Manual or electronic climate control? Does the blower work ok? Is the coolant level FULL when engine is off and cold? Does the engine run at normal temperature or does it overheat? Do the engine fans run at all? kathleen
WWWPerfA_ZN0W my Edge is a 2008. I am not sure about the climate control question. I utilized the "auto" option often but not always. So it blows when it wants to and doesn't at other times, and trust you me, I wasn't relying on the auto option then cause it was super hot. But like I said, all it takes is maybe closing the door or going over a bump for it to kick back in. I haven't checked the coolant but what would that have to do with the a/c? It hasn't had any overheating issues and the engine is super quiet so I can't say I have ever even noticed the engine fans but I did get the car in June and this is Texas so it had plenty of chance to get hot if it was going to. I also took it to Florida and back over the 4th of July weekend with no issues until the a/c blower stopped temporarily.
macbwt
If bumps and closing the door cause it to not function. The issue is an electrical connection. Tracing an erratic connection will be a difficult task requiring some luck and a moving a lot of wires/connectors.
