enigma-2
Monitoring for the PTU temperature and water pump integerity (integral leak detection). Tied into CAN for master control warning. Ā NOTE: looks like the PTU temperature IS monitored on certain Edges. Be nice if it was standard of ALL PTU's. radudel
I would like to be able to use the split-view camera as a dashboard camera and to record.More applications that can be used from SYNC3. (like Waze?)Speed follow. To set the cruise control as to be able to automatically adjust the speed according to the front car. Rear light LED projector incorporated somewhere up. When running backwards the light is too dim. Ā Ā Ā
akirby
Speed follow. To set the cruise control as to be able to automatically adjust the speed according to the front car. radudel
Now that's a thing! And it's possible to have it? How can I identify that function? This car for me is still an enigma... I only have about 1000 miles on it...
radudel
One more idea: there are a lot of gadgets (like dashboard cameras or radar detectors for example) that need 12V socket. Al those cables across the dashboard are ugly. Is it possible to have a 12V outlet somewhere up, where the cable do are not stretched over the dashboard? Thanks! Or maybe close to the windshield somehow? Or the side A pillars? Maybe...?

There will also be a steering wheel button that has arrows going up and down - this adjusts how close you get to the vehicle in front of you.

Chipster
Having had my Edge now for awhile now, I would like to have better interior lighting, especially in the back. An overhead lamp in the rear top projected downward would be more helpful than is the side mounted light which (for me) is blocked by my fishing stuff when I am packing for a fishing trip the night before. Turns on the detector when the ignition is in run, off when turned off & door opened (same delay as radio, etc.).Ā You can buy a harness for several different radar detectors and dashcams (each brand has a different connector). Ā Installation takes <5 minutes (start to finish). Gregertech
It looks like a lot of the suggestions thus far are mostly minor, which could mean that Ford got mostly everything right already with the Edge . As a 17 Edge Sport owner some things I would've liked to have. Ā Euro style headlights with built in LED DRL's for US models. They look cool. Ditch the 12v plug for rear passengers and replace with dual USB chargers, 2.1 amp. Adaptive sport suspension. Lay flat front passenger seat would be nice. Option for factory trailer hitch on sport model. No idea why this isn't currently available?

NYT
Preface; I like my Ford Edge so far. Ā Suggested changes: 1. Fix the torque steer. FWD is not good. I majorly regret not getting AWD. I seriously might trade mine in if/when the new transmission comes out (segue). 2. Throttle response. Not sure if the issue is turbo lag, transmission, electronics or a combination, but the vehicle needs to be smoother with better responsiveness. 3. Fuel Economy. The 4cyl is a nice, powerful engine but using the term "EcoBoost" should be illegal. I expected much better MPG from this turbo 4. 4. Trunk light. I really, really can't believe the poor effort on the 1 small, dim, low, light they put it. 5. Middle console storage. Overall it's poor. The "trap door" above the display is a bit sightly, the "pass through" behind the console is just useless and the "cubby" with the USB's is great if you have hands the size of a 5yr old girl. Make the premium models better... don't make the lower models bad. 6. Tires. They spin (or try to) way too easy. I'll be getting winters (as planned) and 20's with summers to try and help cure. If not, she's gone Ā What I like (not in order): 1. Value 2. Interior. It's nice, very roomy, seems durable, modern, etc. 3. Trim / options. The Titanium had exactly everything I wanted (I think someone at Ford really did their homework). I wasn't forced much I didn't want/need and had lots of options to choose from (loving the roof rails and hitch). 4. Technology. The Sync3 is good and overall this mid-value vehicle is well equipt. akirby
You get torque steer from the 2.0L Ecoboost at less than WOT?
lildisco
Fuel economy depends on the driver. When my wife is the primary driver, she gets around 21-22mpg & when I'm the primary driver i get around 25-26mpg in the same conditions. I get 28-30mpg on the highway & she usually gets 25-27. Ā Throttle response is drastically improved when in Sport Mode when accelerating normally. You won't see much of a difference at WOT, except it won't go into Over Drive. When you're making boost, your fuel economy will suffer. Ā OEM tires are geared towards fuel economy & not performance. The non-Sport Edges are more of a passenger vehicle A-B transportation. Ā Sounds like you're an aggressive driver & sounds like you need an Edge Sport or another vehicle geared towards your driving style. Ā People need to understand that you need to adjust your driving style to get the most out of the ecoboost's. You can't cruise at 80+ mph on the highway & expect to get 30+ mpg. You also can't wail on it off the line every time you take off & expect to get 25+mpg. Since your car is turbo'd, you're going to use more fuel while you're making boost in comparison to another Naturally Aspirated in the same category. The Ecoboosts shine when you're up to speed & you don't need to speed up. Constant speed ups & take offs kill mpg's in general, but more so in Forced Induction vehicles because more fuel is needed when in boost. Ā Adjust your driving style or deal with the consequences. akirby
The way I describe it is the Ecoboosts have a much wider range than a NA engine. Whereas the NA 3.5L might see 17-20 in city driving depending on how it's driven, the Ecoboost might be 15-22. It has the potential to be better but also the potential to be worse. I've found that you really have to do a lot of coasting and taking your foot completely off the pedal for max mpg. Short trips seem to be worse on the EBs as well. NYT
You get torque steer from the 2.0L Ecoboost at less than WOT? The torque steer my wife even noticed. She has avg car knowledge and I didn't lead her into this either (I actually tried to hide it from her... ignorance is bliss). It's not bad at low/mid speeds, but more noticeable near the limit. I passed someone on a 2-lane 80kph side road once and the feeling was like riding a motorbike over a steel grate (front wheels were wandering like a snake). I'd say it was borderline dangerous... and I used to track a FWD car before. Ā It's OK for my wife and I think she'll be even better with dedicated winter tires and summer wheels. I only read 1 review that ripped the Edge for torque steer and unfortunately the model I test drove was AWD. In hindsight, I wish I didn't cheap out and got AWD. akirby
I don't get that at all with my 2.0EB Fusion. I do have different tires.
NYT
Thanks guys. Overall I think I just had higher expectations with fuel economy for a modern turbo 4. A big reason I went with FWD was to maximize performance and MPG. I tried to have my cake and eat it too... didn't really work. Ā On a full tank (premium) our FWD Titanium will get 550kms (350 miles) consistently from normal city driving. Long highway road trips get us to 650 - 670kms (400mi). It's OK, but our old Civic still kills this (I know it's not an apples to apples comparison). Ā It's all good for the wife. I just need a Focus RS and a track day
radudel
I have two more suggestions: 1. Make somehow that all LED's from the brake lamp over the rear windshield to light up not only half of them. Ā 2. The "start-stop" function to be by default "off" and to be activated by the switch on the central console. This function is useful for urban traffic to reduce consumption but I only want to know that, if the turbine has no oil cooling during "engine stop" suddenly at every traffic light, isn't affecting it's reliability? akirby
Temps are monitored by the PCM. I don't think it would turn it off it was too hot.
radudel
It did last summer at 40 degrees. Not for a long time (15-20 sec) but it's stressful for the turbine anyways.
