yabuddy
I'm strongly thinking about lowering my 2013 SEL and wanted to get some feedback. I'm looking at the H&R Sport Lowering Springs which would lower the front 1.75 in. and the back 1.5 in. Has anybody used these springs? Or any other springs that they think are better? How does it effect the ride? Does it wear out the tires more? Is the suspension on 2013 ford edge sel adjustable? Should i get struts? I know these are alot of questions but i'm hoping someone on here can help me! Thanks in advance.
Gatorman
Leave it alone. It's not a race car. If ya want low..buy a mini cooper.

Nick Halstead
Those quotes are the exact reason why it's your car. Do as you please with your car. No edge has adustable suspension and the lowering springs drop is so minimal it has no adverse issues.
autom8r
Yabuddy Folks are right, its not a race car, but I think the the Edge looks a little better lowered. There are some minor improvements to handling. Tire wear is not adversely affected though it'll take a little while to "season" the springs, the ride is a little stiff the first 5000 miles or so. I've had my springs on for almost 90,000 miles. Zero issues. Don't forget to buy new camber bolts. Get a fatter rear sway bar if you can find it. If the streets are full of potholes where you live or where the car was driven, struts may be needed. My struts are original, 175,000 miles. I live in the OC where the roads are like heaven. Again, its a taste thing. Happy trails.
yabuddy
Thanks for the info guys. I think it'll look better lowered too. I'll post pictures when it's done!!
accordngs
Just lowered mine about a month ago with the H&R springs. Definitely not as smooth of a ride as the stock setup but not terrible either. I personally think it was worth it for how much better it looks. I put 22's on my Edge and the gap was driving me crazy. I was going for look more than performance so wasn't too worried about the ride or that stuff. Really a personal call.

You retrofitted LED projectors into the factory headlights and HID projectors into the fogs?
autom8r
No LED retrofit on the head lamps/fog lamps. I just swapped the stock lamps to HIDs with ballasts on low beams and fog lamps. I also tried the high beams, but there is too much lag firing up the ballasts IMO. The fogs were projectors to begin with. They're configured with a horizontal slot that cuts off any light slightly above horizontal. Be warned not to instigate a debate about the sensibility of HIDs where halogens once existed...I've been told that I missed a lecture in physics on light reflection and refraction and how to adequately illuminate the road ahead of me.

Heh! You're right about the halogen to HID lecture. Around here - and everywhere probably - I see it as the biggest problem where people will put HID bulbs into a standard reflector lamp housing (talk about getting blinded!) - as opposed to halogen projectors. Even though it isn't perfect - I think the conversion in a projector housing is a better bet. I haven't seen a before and after comparison - so I don't know how the end result compares to the HIDs on my sport. MikeKiloXrayOhNiner
Anyway... Edges aren't race cars. Lower it anyway. I want to lower mine sometime soon hopefully. Let us know how it goes!
yabuddy
Thanks for all the input guys. I got the H&R sport lowering kit along with the KYB Excel G shocks put on last week and I gotta say I can tell a difference in the handling. I feel the road a bit more and feel more in control of the car. I highly recommend it to anyone interested in lowering their car. I haven't had any problems with going over speed bumps or driveways at all either! Best thing i have done to my car by far! I'll post pics soon! Now I'm looking into a upgraded rear sway bar. We will see.
