2015 Edge Sport Collision Avoidance Erratic

Is anybody having their collision avoidance act erratic? For the past 6 months or so my collision avoidance system will go off just pulling up to a red light. Doesn't have to have any cars next to me. The dealer had the car for 3 days and couldn't find anything wrong with it. Said they couldn't get it to go off and there wasn't any codes set. Really? I went to pick it up and took the tech for a drive. We didn't even get out of the drive way and it went off. They said I'd have to leave it for a week or so and they'd have to get somebody from FORD to come out and look at it.

Really, nobody else has had this problem?

Yes, it usually goes away on its own after restarting. I've always assumed it just meant there was debris on the sensors. It's almost always with the side sensors.

 

Also, FWIW, these are the parking sensors. If you tell your dealer its the collision avoidance system, they'll think it's the red light and alarm on the dash (if you have adaptive cruise with forward collision warning) that's going off.

I can't believe I'm the only Edge only who is having this problem.

I'm thinking it isn't the collision avoidance. The manual shows the sensitivity is adjustable but I don't even see it in the setup. The dealer disabled the drive alert display, which is a different display anyway. They want me to test it by turning off the cross traffic alert, which has to be turned off every time you start the car. It didn't, it still goes off.. BUT since I got it back it doesn't go off anywhere near as much as it had been... but still a lot more then it did the 1sr few months I owned the car. I can turn the The alert off by pressing the parking aid (self park) button on by console. So it may be related to that system. It's has something to do with the radar. I have a picture loaded in my media od the screen, don't know how to post it here.
Car going back to the dealer, for almost $50,000 I expect it to work correctly!

On another electronic note, I also complained that the clock loses time, about a minute a month. Hadn't really tracked it but Ford says it's within specs of the 30-45 sec per month...
Gosh, I haven't had a car in the past 30 years, 2 Honda's, a Toyota, Chevy even several Fords and I've never had to change the minutes on them.

Anybody from Ford on this forum? My dealer needs some help figuring out what's wrong other then just the hotline. They've replaced sensors and now the "body" computer. They kept the car for two weeks and that still didn't fix it. This has been dragging out for over a year! For $45,000 I expext a car I can drive. I don't use the self park anymore, I don't trust the sensor system!

I'm about to find a lemon law lawyer....

I also have this issue. Mine is a 2015 Titainium and we have been having issues. Ours seem to act up first thing in the morning when we come to a stop sign on our street. The stop sign is about 20 feet from the car and it will go off but only once in the morning, if we pass it later that day it won't go off. Dealer can't seem to find out what's wrong. It goes off like your going to hit it.

I have the exact same problem. It happens at the same stop sign, same location, every day. For the last month mine has been going into red alarm mode whenever I leave a parking lot and there's a sidewalk/ curb.
