2016 Edge Sport AWD 0-60 time

Every review I read on the internet I see a 5.6s 0-60 time posted for the 2015 FWD Edge Sport. I'm curious if anyone on here has documented a 0-60 time for a 2016 AWD Sport. I've tried a few times in mine and I always seems to end up at around the 7sec mark. That's a long way from 5.6s. Granted, I'm running on regular gas, I'm not standing on the brakes while the revs build and the AWD will surely cause a hit, still, I would have thought it would have been better than that. Maybe I'll fill up on 93 Octane next time and see if that helps.

Seven seems really high. Mine has so much power that I really can almost never stretch it's legs - legally. I'd have to take it to the track to really do that.

Just by the seat of the pants I can tell you for sure it is WAY faster than 7 to 60. Seven seconds to 60 was roughly where I was when I had my Escape with the 2.0.

Are you running it in Drive or S-mode? Either way, when I press down on the gas pedal - this thing has some serious pull.

Driving in S-Mode, air conditioning off, less than a quarter tank of gas, only me in the car, trunk empty etc. etc. Air temp is quite warm in Texas at the moment (only getting hotter) so that will be having some effect too since turbos like cold dense air. I dunno, guess I'll check the turbo connections and make sure there's no leaks.

Keep in mind that the times reported by the car mags (MT, C&D, etc.) all use "1 foot of roll out" (like on a drag strip).

Forum member GT500R had some really great posts were he tested D vs S on a stock 2015 Ford Edge Sport using a VBOX. He did brake boost to around 1000 rpms and was running 93 Octane to attain his numbers. He was also able to reproduce that magazine times of ~5.6 s when he used the "1 foot of roll out" method.

I do not think we have seen any dyno numbers for the 2.7 Ecoboost used in the Sport run on 87 Octane vs. 93 Octane. I know that the Ecoboost Mustangs and the Focus ST's do loose a not insubstantial amount of horsepower over ~4000 rpm when run on 87 Octane.

But with elevated temperatures, 87 Octane, no brake boosting, no "1 foot of roll out" method and the inherent error of the stop watch method I could see adding another ~1.3 seconds to the magazine times.

Switching to 93 octane gained me about a quarter of a second so I'm now at around 6.75s. Ambient air temp right now is 80-90 degrees here in Texas so I guess I'll have to wait until the end of the year to see how this thing performs in 30-40 degree air.

MT just tested a 2016 Edge Sport using 87 Octane. They lost 0.5 sec to 60mph vs. a previous test of a 2015 Edge Sport that used 93 Octane.

Interesting article, so on 87 octane my very rough 7s 0-60 is about 0.8s off. I wonder if they were building revs while on the brake ? I might be able to say that the discrepancy is due to the very warm ambient temperature I was running in and my fairly inaccurate stopwatch method. I'm feeling a bit better now :-)
