Tom Champagne
My wife's 2007 Edge SEL has almost 80K on the clock and was wondering if I should change hoses and belt(s) at this time. a mechanic friend told me just the belt(s) and flush cooling system. Any thoughts? Should I stay with OEM parts? Thanks in advance.
Brian K
I'd consider changing the belt but IMO the hoses should be fine. Check them for cracks and bulging though. Also you should change all the fluids. In addition to the coolant, you should consider: transmission (drain and fill), bleed the brakes, suck out the PS reservoir and refill, rear diff, and very important - the PTU.
Tom Champagne
Thanks for the reply. I'll look at the hoses and check them out.
macbwt
Trans change definitely. Plugs are also due. Belts both the power steering stretchy belt and serpentine. Brake fluid purged and replaced. Power steering fluid replaced. Coolant if it is 5 years old yes change. If you need videos go to the youtube and facebook pages listed in my signature. Or I have tons of them posted on the forum here.
