Teqheat
Hello I have 2010 ford edge sel awd and had engine lock and heard from shop possiblity over 3k labor and engine swap so I figure might do it myself with a friend who know how to do engine swap. read on some forum stating that Ford edge sel can swap engine up to 3.5 or 3.7 duratec v6 cyclone engine, so i thought to ask for honest opinion if its possible and whats need to get it done besides timing tune up. Any advice and suggest though i had crazy thought but not sure if its possible due to torgue there goes my fantasies 4g63 modified engine install with twin turbo. luminator
You can swap any engine that will fit, it is just dependent on how much custom fabrication work you are willing to do. I have seen everything to a 350SBC in an Mini(the old school one), I did a 3.8L SC(GTP engine) into a Cavalier Z24 with some friends, and everything in the world needs an LS in it.
akirby
It's easy to put a new engine in an older car - much harder to put an old engine in a newer one due to throttle by wire, electronically controlled trannies and all the interactions between the computer and the engine and tranny.
Waldo
If you want a simple swap, you need to stick to the 1st gen cyclone (iVCT - single variable camshaft) that was in the 07-10 Edge/MKX, the 07-12 Taurus, 07-12 MKZ or you could put in a 3.7 from the 09-12 MKS/MKT. The difference with the 3.7 really isn't that much so I wouldn't spend a whole lot of extra time or money to find one of those.
