Need help to install a canbus/swc interface with new aftermarket unit?

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

I want to replace my factory radio unit but an aftermarket one. (Chinese Android Joying brand).

I add a Canbus/SWC interface as well to keep Sync and (obvisouly) steering command. (Axxess BX-FD2).

My car is a Edge 2009 Limited and comes with a "Premium Sound system" with 9 speakers. I guess it's 8 speakers with the sub.

I'm planning to plug it this week-end but I'm not sure which way to follow in the BX-FD2 manual: http://metraonline.com/files/products/INSTBX-FD2_web.pdf

There is two possible ways to connect it.

- For models without a Sony/THX amplifier

- For models with a Sony/THX amplifier

I don't know with one I have to choose. My system is not Sony but I think it has an amplifier because of the sub.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thank you very much.

Sorry, no I do not. The Premium system was new (at least in name) for 2009, according to the brochure, but that's all I know for now :(

Premium Sound System with AM/
FM stereo/6-disc in-dash CD changer,
secondary steering wheel-mounted controls,
MP3 capability, clock and 9 speakers
(including A-pillar-mounted tweeters and an
8" subwoofer) with 320 watts

11 8A5Z-18B849-E AMPLIFIERREAR $84.33 $67.88

In 2008, the Audiophile system had a separate amplifier, so maybe the 2009 did as well.

Audiophile® Sound System
features a 6-disc in-dash CD changer and 9 speakers including an 8" subwoofer and
a 190-watt amplifier.

I don't think it has a separate amp (other than the subwoofer) if it's not a Sony but I'm not 100% sure.

Crutchfield usually has good instructions on whether you need to bypass an existing amp or not give your specific car year and model. Check with them.

Actually, I already asked Crutchfield for some informations but you couldn't help me because I didn't buy my items from them.

Crutchfield.ca does not have all the products as Cruchfield.com has. The products they recommended me were not compatible with the unit I bought (according to the manufacturer of my unit).

Crutchfield.ca helped me the best they could considering what I said higher.
