Mrjohnnyk
Hi guys, I'm new here. And somewhat new to the ecoboost. I've seen mods such as upgrading the bov to get the sound, however I've also seen people venting the stock bov to atmosphere, my question is how? Any insight on doing it and any harm if any would be great, thank you!
akirby
Won't help performance. A tuner is your best bet.
Mrjohnnyk
I'm not looking for performance, just the sound.
WWWPerfA_ZN0W
Maybe djeyecon can help out. He upgraded his 2013's BOV http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/18490-2013-edge-ecoboost-bov/
Mrjohnnyk
I saw that forum, I just can't justify spending almost $200 on a new one, I wanted to see if there's any way I can vent the stock one to atmosphere.
WWWPerfA_ZN0W
That's what I meant, you can talk to him, since he has first-hand knowledge of the stock setup, what would be the best way to do a VTA mod.

majorahole
just want to point out that if these are MAF cars, venting to atmosphere will actually hinder performance and fuel mileage. this is because you are venting metered air that the ecu uses for load calculations, along with how much fuel to inject. it will know something is up when the oxygen sensors are registering rich from lack of oxygen. usually the best way to get a sweet BOV sound, without loosing any power, is to get a metal intake with cone filter. if you have a way to check fuel trims, thats where you will see the ecu removing fuel. tho also a badly bad intake with cause fuel trim issues too
WWWPerfA_ZN0W
MAP, not MAF, on EB engines.
majorahole
really? not bosch based ecu? are they wideband at least?
WWWPerfA_ZN0W
Don't know about the ECU, but yes the fronts are wideband.
majorahole
i know the newest turbo 4cyl mustang is bosch med17, so i just figured that it would be bosch med9 or 17. thats what i get for assuming!!
