Adding POI to nav screen

I can't seem to find how to add gas stations and such to my Sync 3 nav screen. Or do you need to set a destination first?

It will show up automatically when the low fuel warning comes on (at least that's how it used to work). Otherwise just say "destination poi" "by category" "fuel" "nearby" or something like that. POI is under the Destination menu option (you don't have to set a destination - you're browsing for a POI destination).

I know with MFT I could choose a few POI's like fuel, restaurants, etc and the icons would stay on the map.

I'll play with it further

I haven't tried it on sync 3 - I assumed it would work similarly.

On my 09, I press anywhere on the map display, and get 5 soft buttons. Then press on "POI Icons on/off" to turn on the 3 POI buttons I have selected. (Gas stations is one of the three I usually have selected).

On 2016 Sync 3 the POI is buried in the settings menu. Under Map preferences click on POI than when I backed out the POI menu was there. Like before you can pick 3 choices.
