cjh
Anyone have issues with this feature? Half the time, it backs me into a space perfectly. The rest the time, it parks within INCHES of the car next to me, then smugly chimes and tells me its job is done. As in, so close to the car next to me that I would not be able to open the door at all. Just wonder what the issue is. I've also yet to determine if the system tries to center the car in the lines or just between the cars on either side. At any rate, it's a quirky system. The regular parallel park assist works great, however. Edited April 13, 2016 by cjh
redlancer
My assumption is it centers the car between the cars on either side. I've tried it in an empty parking lot, and I don't recall it finding any spaces (even though there was nothing but spaces) I don't think it can see the lines, just detect the cars/objects on either side. I can definitely see an entire thread of pictures showing comically bad parking jobs as performed by the park system But overall, yes, I agree it generally works as advertised if not a bit quirky at times. Beezz
Ive had it try and park me into a spot that had a car in it already, several times. (parallel -6 , perpendicular - 7). Sometimes it tells me to keep backing up even though I couldn't fit my hand between the bumper and the other vehicle. I've lost all trust in the system, I only use it when there is enormous amounts of room and no one around.
Nick Halstead
backing in is quirky, though I've used it to parallel park in extremely tight spaces just for shits and giggles. we staged 2 cars and kept putting them closer and closer to see when the edge wouldn't park. I've also used it to parallel park A LOT, for the wow factor. Usually have soldiers with me and they all want to see it
cjh
Worth mentioning that since positing this, I used the system to parallel park in a space. Let's just say I trusted to system too much. Edited August 21, 2016 by cjh
jmr061
My 16 Edge can't even find obvious perpendicular parking spaces, parallel is fine. Frankly its a joke.
TweetyEdge
I just tried it today, I stopped the car right the way after it found the spot, when it reverse during parallel parking, it goes too fast almost hit the car behind. The second time I tried it does again! It still wants to go after the red warning beat! I never trust this again Edited October 22, 2016 by TweetyEdge
Nick Halstead
I have NEVER had an issue parallel parking, we even staged it at work, we would let it park, then I'd pull out and they would move one of the cars closer till it wouldn't find the spot anymore, that way I could gauge what it would and wouldn't park into. I will mention, if there's not a defined curb, it will throw it all out of wack and probably hit a vehicle. No perpendicular...well that's still a work in progress and shouldn't even be offered. I think a blind person with a spotter could back into a spot faster.

I think you didn't read manual nor the instructions on the screen!

TweetyEdge
My bad! Thanks for pointing it out! Haha, somehow I thought it automatically apply the brake on its own, then I guess both time it was operating correct for me!
blitz118
It works perfectly for me 95 percent of the time. It's must have feature for me on any new car purchase.
