mcali6301
This does not always happen but I've been noticing some slight delays when shifting from R to D. When I shift into D, sometimes it engages right away and sometimes I get a 2 second delay, which can be annoying because it causes a slip when I press the pedal. Another funny thing I noticed is when backing out of spaces slowly, sometimes without the brake, I shift into D with no issue at all...I realize this may not be a good habit but I thought it was weird that using the brake can cause this delay sometimes but then NOT using the brake always seems to work flawlessly even while moving backward at 1-2mph.. WWWPerfA_ZN0W
Trans telling you time to change the fluid? Could be a shifter issue, a shift cable issue, needing PCM calibration update issue, etc. among other possibilities. Could even be a faulty brake on/off (stoplamp) switch reacting in a delayed fashion.
mcali6301
Well as you may remember, I had this car in the shop for over a month in October. They took apart the transmission and replaced the valve body gasket so assuming some new fluid was put back in or replaced all together. May just wait till next maintenance to bring it up. Thanks! WWWPerfA_ZN0W
My guess is they will say it is perfectly normal, especially at very low speeds. That 1-2 second delay may be a self-preserving measure implemented in the programming. Hopefully they will be able to explain it.
