Racerboy
Im not surprised how things in this car start to fail. 2011 Edge, at 1st, door sensor crapped out, as pain in replacement, throttle body failure, on the transmission, a black plastic cover, near the drain bolt? cracked-of course! Coolant catch tank, bottom outlet that has a 1/2" hose on it, wanna guess? cracked. The muffler flex pipe that has the metal mesh on it to help in engine flexing? Leaking, it cracked. cheesy ass black plastic cover under the mirrior, does not stick anymore, little black prongs that grab the sensor, naturally, broke off, Im guessing, temp fluctuations, weakening the plastic. I'll tell ya this as well, if you blow a bulb, good luck in trying to chge the bulb, no room for your hands, trying to seat it by feel, is hard as hell, to put them in correctly, you gotta remove the bumper, best way to do it, for once, that was not hard to do-surprisingly. Well now to my latest gripe. SYNC updates, got the latest one, installed, no differences, BUT! Now my calendar will not update at all. It displays at all times: Sep 2035. Called SYNC folks, yes, installed new update, yes, master reset, blah, blah, blah. They say now go to the dealership, like hell I will, diag fee, ridiculous waiting, screw it, I'll live with it. My car has 160,000.00 on it. Runs good, I do all my own maintenance. Gonna keep this junky ass car til the doors falls off. At least its paid for. I will never ever buy a Ford product again. OH! one more thing, this is a good one, the track rail on the big ass sun roof? cracked and broke away, I never open it now, replacement cost is like a printer, buying a new printer with ink is cheaper than buying the ink. Well, at least its not leaking!! How about that? Note this too Edge owners, if you do your own oil chges, depending on your your driving habits, and or a host of other things that effect the way your car runs, have you noticed how close the oil filter is to the exhaust manifold? Now, for those who do not do your own chges, Has a dealership or fast oil chge place ever tell you that the paint or the surface of the oil filter canister peeled off or turned dark brown from extreme heat? Of course they would not! What this means on a daily drive basis, your oil and filter gets socked with extra heat and fatigue. Its hot enough alrdy, now you have extra heat! This must be the crappiest design to date. But! there is a plus based on this design, at least you'll not spill oil or make a big ass mess when chging it your self. You can hammer in a Center punch hole in the bottom and let the oil drain out then pop it loose, well, maybe not pop it loose, surely, the filter will be welded on due to the extra heat. WWWPerfA_ZN0W
Did you buy your Edge new or used? No offroading, right Most of the issues are unfortunately well known to the 2011+ crowd. Living in the salt belt will accelerate rust-related issues. Having AWD, well ... Luckily, there are many brands other than Ford to choose from. What would you buy today?
