037
Hey guys, new owner of a late 2015 Edge Sport, Pana sunroof, 401a, 21" wheels. Took it out first week of Jan. Here are my mods so far: 1. Llumar Formula One Pinnacle tint - 35% front two windows 2. AntiLaser Priority Laser jammer - 3 heads + bluetooth+HiFi speaker - hard wired 3. Escort Redline radar detector - hard wired 4. KDLinks X1 (2x) - dash/rear cameras - hard wired 5. Winter Pirelli Scorpion wheels - 265/40/21 6. Ford wheel locks - received free after dealer was a pain in the @$$ 7. All season Ford rubber mats front, rear, trunk tray - received free same as above 8. Last but not least - Livernois 93 tune - should be good for 325/350 awhp Coming soon: LED DRL - white A little background about me: I have driven medium/large 4 door sedans since I got my license, it's weird for me to be sitting up so high. This is not my first AWD car, my first was in an Acura with SH-AWD which was clearly superior due to rear wheel power distribution. My last two cars were RWD, one made in Korea and one made in Australia. I like to stay under the radar and my cars are usually on the bland side, at least before I am done with them.
WWWPerfA_ZN0W
Welcome, officially Yeah, it was an adjustment for me too, going from a 90s sedan to the 07 Edge. Sitting high up, thicker steering wheel, etc. Did like the improvements to powertrain, suspension & handling that make it more car-like, but not QUITE Started out a GM guy, but all Ford for quite some time now. 037
well, my "last" car has the thickest steering wheel I ever seen, got the biggest engine I ever had (6.2L), has front 4 piston Brembo brakes so the performance certainly went down even after the tune. But...the up side is a bigger trunk and AWD and that makes my wife happier...so I guess I will just get brighter lights or something, ehehe Come summer I'm thinking of throwing a set of Michelin Pilot Super Sports on in 285/35/21" which should certainly make it more fun to drive and reduce the need to slow down. Thank you for the welcome, I do visit Maryland couple times a year.
WWWPerfA_ZN0W
Definitely let me know next time you are in the area! It's been quite a while since I've been to NY city, though I have occasion to visit family & friends in NJ every so often.
037
first serious run: 15' Commodore: 6.2L LS3, intake, tune, headers, 18" winter tire setup, 6 speed vs 15' Ford Edge Sport: 2.7L, tune Edited February 2, 2016 by 037
cds71
How do you feel the edge did in its first test.....Not like you picked an easy mark. Stock it will pull a 4.5 0-60. My first test was a 2015 frs, and they look fast (almost looks a little like a gtr)....needless to say I smoked it, but later I found out that they are a 7 sec 0-60. I didn't feel anything since I own one of those tuned/intake so I knew I was gonna lose bad, but it wasn't horrible considering he's pushing like 420 rwhp through a 6 speed manual on winter wheels. I think for what it is, a tuned Edge is acceptable in terms of performance, all things considered Before the tune...it was good for regular driving, blah for any sort of spirited driving. I think a tune put it right where it should be, no regrets.
WingNut
Would like to see how you hardwired the KDLinks X1s.
037
Would like to see how you hardwired the KDLinks X1s. I paid for the install, but I saw power wires getting spliced and added right before cigarette lighter plug and then routed to accessory fuse. 037
another item in the mail, hope this does the trick: StopTech (950.61009) Brake Line Kit, Stainless Steel
dave80
Did anyone install the 160* thermostat yet? Edited February 4, 2016 by dave80
WWWPerfA_ZN0W
For the 2.0L? Does it work with the 2.7L also? In any case, a tune/tune update would be required to take max advantage. Without a tune update, some additional passive cooling could be obtained for daily driving, but might adversely impact fuel mileage just a tad. 037
no thermostat for me or any plans to install it. The power is there, the stopping power, not really. It's not a race car so anything beyond a tune is really unnecessary, but you still gotta be able to stop it. Stock brakes should be sufficient but the pedal travel/amount seems completely off vs how much stopping power is needed, will see what the lines can do for me. dave80
It says it fits our 2.7 EB. Even without the tune it keeps the engine cooler and there won't be any issues with it. Used to have one of those on my ls1 camaro back in the day.
037
Let me know how yours work for you, may consider it if there is something to gain. I feel the engine will last the term of my lease.
037
Got my first race signal today from a guy with a Challenger with an exhaust, he used one finger to express himself on the second attempt as on the first try I didn't let em pass. The wife said no...I was looking forward to explaining the quiet nature of the Edge while giving him a whooping.
037
In other news, I spent a good hour playing with the H15 DRL lights, couldn't get the power adapter to fit after light was installed, the moment of truth came when I realized I had a chicken/egg problem and the power adapter has to go first...was a snap after this. Haven't seen the lights on yet since the install as it got dark but I have a suspicion they don't work at all or are terribly dim. Next check is on Tuesday when I get my front brake lines installed. 037
And a warning to those getting a tune, the acceleration of the vehicle well outspaces the braking ability...almost found out the hard way when I accelerated to prevent someone from cutting in and then to suddenly slow down and had a panic moment... Be safe.
bmwta
It's possible your braking will improve when you put your stock tires back on (not Winter tires), or upgrade them to the Pilot Sports for better grip while braking. (Just my 2 cents Either way enjoy your Mods!
037
By reading reviews on tirerack it seemed the winter scorpions should.handle no worse than all seasons. Will see if I can sell the A/S so I can get the pilots. Will see if SS lines help
037
Spent a little more time with DRL led lights and they simply don't work. Reinstalled factory bulbs and got nothing as well. I am thinking it has to be a fuse but looking at the car manual its not obvious which one, went through it twice. Anyone got an idea which it is? I get the same thing from my wife(I just recently got the one finger signal from a turbo Veloster I smoked).....the only time she entertains my desire to "own my lane" is when a perf diesel truck is wanting my lane and my wife hates being behind those coal burners....so I usually have lots of fun with them.....havent found one yet that out performs the edge. 037
SS brakes lines are now installed on the front, definitely feel some difference and more linear pedal travel, will add some miles and come back, was raining a lot today so I was hitting every deep puddle I could find...will grow up eventually
