fit1446
Does anyone know what this is? I found it under the center console on driver side between the console side panel and the shifter base
macbwt
No idea. Does the shift lever and selector feel like it is locking in good?
fit1446
Yes that's what has me so confused... Everything seems fine. I'm going to pull the trim off the driver side of the console and take a look
fishx65
My best guess would be a broken part from a golf cart or ATV primary clutch. Probably nothing to do with your Edge.
Zazzy
It's a part of the shifter assembly. I might have a photo from my wife's MKX. It's not really needed so don't let it worry you. As you move the shifter, the roller moves down a ridged path. It adds "feel" to the shifter when it's correctly located. I figured it was part of the shifter... It was in between the panel and shifter assembly on the floor. Ty for the answer! Much appreciated. I didn't feel anything different about how the shifter operated but noticed the piece there one day. Thnx again:-)
Zazzy
I priced the cost to replace and fix it. It's not too expensive and not too difficult. Have I done it yet? No. Someday, but it's not a priority. Here's a link I saved (last year!!!) from eBay for the shifter assembly. It's still for sale: $99http://www.ebay.com/itm/08-LINCOLN-MKX-AUTOMATIC-SHIFT-ASSEMBLY-/310687467133?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Year%3A2008%7CMake%3ALincoln%7CModel%3AMKX%7CSubmodel%3APremium%7CEngine+-+Liter_Display%3A3.5L&hash=item48566a867d&vxp=mtr Edited February 10, 2016 by Zazzy
fit1446
Awesome zazzy! Ty I haven't had a chance to research it's function but like I said I didn't even notice anything different as far as function of shifter
Zazzy
if you ever decide to install a new/used one sometime in the future, ping this thread. I can upload PDFs from the service manual. It's probably easier (and quicker) than changing the spark plugs.
