Judy Mytty
NEED TO KNOW WHY MY LOW OIL PRESSURE LIGHT IS ON WHEN I JUST GOT IT CHANGE AND SEE NO VISIBLE ISSUES
WWWPerfA_ZN0W
Could be they did not put in enough oil or the right weight of oil. Has happened before. Also possible the filter or the oil drain plug was not tightened properly and there is a leak from that area.
akirby
It means the oil pressure is too low or the sensor is bad. Check the oil level immediately and don't drive it with the light on - you could damage the engine. It's entirely possible they didn't fill it back up. If it has oil and no visible link it's either a bad sensor or the oil pump or maybe the wrong filter - in any even it's not safe to drive with low oil pressure. macbwt
If the light is on: Bad sensors. If sensors are changed and oil pump light still on worse case scenario is oil pumps most of the time do not fail. The reason for the low oil pressure may be an indication of something far more serious such as worn bearings causing the pressure to drop which means your engine has failed. A new pump will not help this situation. The easiest and cheapest way to see if your engine has damage and is failing is to sample your oil and have this analysis performed
enigma-2
I've found that its not all that uncommon that the shop doesn't always completely fill the oil. When it takes 5-1/2 qts. I've seen them use only 5 qts. telling me that it's okay. First step, check your oil level. Edited January 28, 2016 by enigma-
macbwt
That is why you find a good shop that shows you the oil level when they are finished changing it. Then stick with them.
