Jimibigguns
Question... Do Ford dealers install OEM window tints for the 2 front windows of the Edge? Jim
pickupf150
I know its not legal here to tint the front windows but just get a tint company to do it.
Lex Talionis
I doubt it. not legal in many states plus you would be better suited - faster and more affordable - to have tine company come to you and do it: 20% charcoal seems to be the closest match to factory privacy glass. I had a company nearby match the tint from the back for only $50.
Jimibigguns
I tinted out my past car...a 2002 Nissan SER Spec-V...and the tints looked great for about 3 years. After that they began to turn purple. I just want to make sure this doesn't happen again. Is there a tint brand or type which is known to not fade or turn purple??? I know that the factory tints stay true...just want to make sure this happens to the front ones as well. Jim
Lex Talionis
that purpling issue is typically due to low quality tint. Their are many good tints... I have read a lot on this website recently- I have had ALL my cars tinted - and just had my chicks done with QDP as will mine be when I get it... just go with a reputable company that does it a lot car tinting - versus a DIY from pep boys or napa. BTW, I tried to tint an Acura once on my own and it is (1) brizzzzzutal and (2) crappy tint from pep boys purpled over time. I have 7 year old Solar Guard on my VW and it looks awesome now as when new.

Jim Hi all. :D I am sure that most of you already know this, but for those who don't: I have read many times that you need to be certain that the Glass Cleaner you are using on tinted window films is "Ammonia Free". Ammonia will turn many/most/all? tint films purple. I need to add that I do not have tinted windows on any of my vehicles, so do not claim to be a tint expert. I just happen to read a lot, and have a good memory. :read: Good luck all! :beerchug: Edited February 11, 2008 by bbf2530
Jimibigguns
Ammonia free...that makes sense. I was using some generic crap for window cleaning...that's probably why they turned purple. I'll look into a reputable tint shop. Any tint brands I should be looking for?
