northernone
2015 edge titanium. It's cold here in the north and when I have the heat on and temp set to auto, the front windshield fogs up and can't see. The edge is warmed up and in auto there is no air flow coming out of the defrost vents. All the flow comes out of the side window vents and floor. Shouldn't there be flow at the defrost vent? If I select the defrost vent, air flows out from it. Why not in auto setting? Is this normal?
remsleep
I have EDGE SEL When I set defrost to max setting I turn recirculating this was recommendation in manual and no any fog I never set auto when cold
akirby
Make sure recirculate is not turned on - that just traps moisture. It's possible that it doesn't automatically use the windshield vents in auto mode - just hit the defrost button until it clears then go back to auto. WingNut
I will have to see what mine does. Ā Are you talking about starting the car while in it? Or starting the car via remote. Because via remote I'm pretty sure it shoots out the floor, side, and windshield. But when I start the car, it switches back to AUTO and the heat will just come out of the floor vents. If it fogs from there, I'll turn on the defroster.
northernone
This is when driving the car when it's warmed up for 1 hour. Driving around in auto the windshield fogs up and then ice cristals forms on the inside of the windshield. No air flow comes out of the defrost vents. I have a 2011 edge and air flows out of the defrost vents in auto mode, thought this would be the same.
akirby
The hvac system in 2013+ fusions and 2015+ Edges is completely different from the previous models. And not in a good way.....
remsleep
Can you explaine? Why not good way? Thanks
akirby
It doesn't work the same and I don't like the new one. It blows cold air when it should not and I have to adjust the temperature setting. And it seems to go from cold air to hot air with nothing in between. I have to adjust the temperature more on the new ones.
edge metal man
Don't leave it on auto on cold mornings, for some reason they designed Auto to only blow on the windshield when you are using remote start. I always have to put on the defrost in the morning to get rid of the fog/ice then transfer to auto when it gets really hot. Oh and does it get hot. chicagoslick
My Fusion works just fine at keeping the windshield defrosted in Auto. I hope the Edge does as well. My main reason for buying the Edge is for the Fusion like ride and feel with the large cabin area. This whole deal could get more and more disappointing... northernone
Well when I go see the dealer soon, I'm going to mention this issue to them. I need to switch from auto to defrost every 5 min to defrost the windshield. Note sure if this is normal but it's a pain.
akirby
Not normal. Check the carpet for moisture.
