enigma-2
I'm curious, anyone here owned an older MKX which had a THX and now owns a 2015 or 16 which has a Revel system. The Revel is touted as a much better audio, but in all honesty, how much better?
vmorari
I have had a 2006 Lincoln Navigator with THX, a 2014 Lincoln MKZ with THX II, and have been in a friends 2022 Lincoln Nautilus with the new Revel Ultimate or Unleashed or whatever they call it. Honestly I loved the 2006 Navigator THX the best, you actually felt like you are in a theater or concert, road noise is moot, the THX II was not bad either, but a smaller car does help acoustics much, but the sound was still so good. The new Revel system is good too but not as good as what the THX certified system could do, deep bass, high peaks, with minimal distortion, it was all around just good sound. In my opionion, it sounds as good as my Klipsch surround sound at home.
WyoEdge
I don't know much about the Revel surround system. I know that to be THX certified per George Lucas it has to be at least 120w per channel. TIm
enigma-2
I believe that the THX II system in my 2009 MKX is 600 watts with either 12 or 16 speakers. (I get confused as some of the speakers are combined.) There's also a 10" sub woofer. Still plays clean and clear after all these years, no matter how loud I crank it up. Love the surround sound when it kicks in (DVD movies.) Since I originally wrote the post, I've driven several Edges and one MKX. If I remember correctly, two of the loaners had the premium audio and they didn't impress.
dabangsta
Yes, 2009 Elite with Navigation has 14 speakers (one is that 8 inch sub, one is the center channel), 600 watts across 12 channels, or it is available stand alone without navigation. I find the 9 speaker premium sound in mine (without a sub) plenty, on par with self installed aftermarket in my older cars, but I do miss the bump I get in my Fusion.
