MGP caliper covers fitment

Recommended Posts

Anybody try these out yet?

I ordered a set from carid.com and tried to put them on the 2015 Sport today. The back caliper covers fit perfectly, but the fronts are way off. The mounts are about 1" to far apart to sit on the caliper bracket, and even if they were closer together the mounting surface still wouldn't be angled correctly to sit flush nor would the mount clips work without some significant bending.

I'm wondering if MGP just carried the part over from a previous Ford model that doesn't quite match the 2015 Edge brakes? The part# I got was 10241SFRDRD which seems to check out as the right listing. Will likely need to send these back, but was wondering if anybody else had tried to install.

They're okay. A lot easier than doing a caliper disassemble for painting or powder coating (and arguably some guys think that looks even worse). I've done both and thought I'd try the easy 5-minute solution this time. Looks like it would actually cut down on some brake dust getting to the wheels so some, albeit limited, function.

Obviously going with some Brembos or Stoptechs would be amazing, but $2-$3k for what's essentially a cosmetic upgrade tends to be a bit overkill.

Ever get this straightened out?

CARiD did respond and said they were sure they would fit. On my 3rd try I did get them to go on, you just have to really flex the tabs more than you think you should. Not really the most machined precision piece I've ever seen, more like 'kinda close if you give it some elbow grease and a rubber mallet' precision.

Overall they look reasonable behind the OEM 21's. Will grab a few pics.

to each their own, but I can't understand how people think these look good or even realistic.

Leased vehicle. Also just what people like. I would much rather prefer the smooth look of the covers over painted stock calipers. The emblems are a nice touch as well. I for one don't understand black/dark rims, but at least 50% of the public loves em. That's why we have options after all.

This is nothing like black rims, atleast black rims are....black rims. This is like clipping the turbo whistle onto the exhaust to pretend you have a blow off valve

Black rims are regular rims painted black. That exact rim could be dipped in chrome, coated in aluminum, or painted red.

If you wanted to help your point it would be like putting black hub caps on a steel rim instead of painting the rim black.

This is nothing like attaching a whistle to your tail pipe to pretend like you got something under your hood. It's putting a cover over something instead of painting it.

So your telling me that a fake looking big brake kit is nothing like the concept of faking you have a turbo? They have the same concept, foolery! For the usual price of the MGP Covers at $200 there are better things in life to buy. They don't make the calipers look better, they make the calipers look like someone is faking the funk. Same concept as going to the local flea market and paying $20. for a fake louis vuitton bag. Caliper Covers are the same as Stick on Hood scoops, just more expensive. Not my money, just my opinion but I'm not spending money on an imitation.

sheesh, you guys seem so bitter about it.. :)

its a cover, not fake brakes.

the engine has a plastic cover completely for aesthetics, but I prefer to have it to clean up the look of the engine bay. The back has a roller cover to compartmentalize the 'trunk' even though it's technically useless.

Just a little color to break up the gray tires with gray wheels and gray discs and gray brake hardware.

Thanks for the picture, looks nice. Could you possibly upload a closeup of just the wheel on this post or just message me it? I have the polished 20's on black and want to get a better idea of how they will look. I want to do a quick photoshop then change colors ;)

It's too bad some can't accept that other people have different opinions. Some also feel that if they tell you theirs enough times it will become fact. I'm sure they ripped that engine bay cover out and burned it.

but the engine cover isn't in the shape of a supercharger, the back does not have a cover unless you opted for it or paid for it on your own as it's not a standard item and that cover isn't in the shape of a ferrari v12 engine but those brake covers are identical to what a big brake kit looks like. Like I said in my very first post, it's just my opinion and not my car, I could careless, I was just giving my opinion. They don't look good to me, they look like fake big brake kits, which is what they were designed and intended to look like, imitation is the biggest form of flattery.
