EDST777
Friends, I wanted to recolour a grill long ago and to make it visually another, impudent, similar to F-150. I wished that it visually would stretch the car up, such idea applied by cars after 2010, and also and by cars of 2015, the grill raises all car there up, pulls it up. All that I could think up from the opportunities these are two options which I show you, what of them in your opinion more nice. I wait for responses. Thanks. p.s. now easy painting and I can change it, but later I have to make constantly and choose from two for painting as paint from plasti rubber - dip. Brucifer
Personally, between the two choices, I think I like the first set of pictures with the black only coming up from the grill. Running the black all the way across the hood breaks up the hoodline too much for me: makes it look like it's floating away from the rest of the car.
enigma-2
Personal opinion, I like the second, with the top trim extended past the grill. The shorter version make me think of a Hitler mustache. Thinking out loud, why does it have to be black? Wonder what it would look like in cherry red, metallic blue or classy metallic maroon? My 09 MKX would only work in chrome, but the Edge has possibilities, especially with a white paint body. Thanks for idea with other flowers, I didn't think of it, trying to sustain a combination with black which is already present.
EDST777
Then I will ask a question and of painting of disks: what color to choose? In my post http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/8386-20-chrome-clad-wheels/page-2#entry141479 , I already wrote that dismantled plastic thickets. Now it is visible on images that my disks have not absolutely diligent appearance, I made rough polishing, what to tear off silicone, but now I choose what color will be suitable for painting. It is possible to leave chrome, as well as I was; there is an idea to make black; perhaps white or what - that acid? I adhere to chrome and black so far, these are the main options. What your thoughts, I will be glad to any help in a choice. Edited November 15, 2015 by EDST777
Brucifer
Hitler? Really??? I was thinking Charlie Chaplin, but I guess 'he who wears it last, wears it the longest'..... EDST777, it's your car and only you know how far you want to take it. It comes down to budget and practicality. How much do you want to spend on appearance and how you want to be looked at. Painting the wheels and grill bright red might make a statement, but is that the statement you want to make? If you want to push the envelope of design, Google 'BMW art cars', then look at the Images. Think of your white car as a white canvas: what you do to the front hood should reflect in what you do to the rear lift gate. Of course, once you go down this path, it can be expensive and even more expensive to come back up it. As for your current color scheme, while I like enigma-2's idea of a colored grill, I would be concerned that it might end up looking like a clown nose. If you do go with a color for the grill, I would suggest black wheels with the same color as a stripe around the wheel to pull the car together. If you are going to leave everything as is it now, think about maintenance when it comes to your wheels. It looks like you have to drive in snow, so painting them may not last very well unless you powder coat them. I would stick with chrome, followed by black. White wheels (with a black ring of a tire around them) wouldn't look good in my opinion.
fishx65
To me, the pics with the bug guard effect look a little smoother. On the 2010 and below I think I would stick with chrome or do a body color match.
EDST777
Thanks friends for your responses, from everything I incline so far to of what I thought: to paint disks a chromium, to find sentralny cups on them (it so far a problem), to leave a grill and the simulator of protection of a cowl black (approaches to black which is pulled on a bottom of the machine and black wheels). enigma-2
Hitler? Really??? I was thinking Charlie Chaplin. Yea, Chaplin is another good example. I just finished a Great Courses series of lectures on "A History of Hitler's Empire", probably why I latched on to his persona.
