omar302
Original 18" tire size is 245/60 R18. But the size you selected is a little closer (in diameter) to the Sport 22" tire (265/40/22).http://www.1010tires.com/Tools/Tire-Size-Calculator
JETZ
Why are you asking the question after the fact? These are snow tires you installed? If not, why so skinny? IMO, 18's on a Sport look , after all that's why people buy the Sport cause the 22's make the car...look 'Sportier'.
mueineddin
i didn't say i don't like the 22 , i loved them , but after i hit that pothole and i damaged 2 of them , i decided to go with smaller ones ,i was limited with the options because i had to go with what they have in stocks, i just want to know if i have the right size and it wont cause any damage to my car , maybe when its time to change i will go with wider ones, thanks for the reply. JETZ
Post some good large close up pics of the damaged ones. Why don't you try and get them fixed? Other than looking odd with those skinny 235/18's on SPORT, your not going to do any harm to the car i didn't say i don't like the 22 , i loved them , but after i hit that pothole and i damaged 2 of them , i decided to go with smaller ones ,i was limited with the options because i had to go with what they have in stocks, i just want to know if i have the right size and it wont cause any damage to my car , maybe when its time to change i will go with wider ones, thanks for the reply. WWWPerfA_ZN0W
Whenever you want to look up the OEM tire sizes, just go to TireRack.com and look it up. For example, for your 2014: 235/70-17 245/60-18 245/55-19 245/50-20 265/40-22 275/25-26 Having more sidewall is important, but so is sidewall strength. So don't go with an overly compliant tire, choose a tire with reinforced sidewall. They don't need to be as stiff as Michelin Pilot Super Sport or Continental ExtremeContact DWS, but should be fairly stiff. Read the reviews for corroboration. HTH. mueineddin
Regardless the ugly looking (which is I agree ) is there any advanteges for the new size I've installed. Thank you all for your inputs.
WWWPerfA_ZN0W
Sizewise, I think you'll be fine. Just a little less contact area with the road (about 1/2" at each wheel), so a little less roadgripping performance. Nothing you can't live with in return for saving your Edge (and likely, your back).
kkreit01
Ouch. Depending on your deductible, it may have paid to go through insurance. I bet you have a lot cushier ride now, but your handling diminshed quite a bit. You're fine on the tire size.
mueineddin
so the car handle worse with these tires,, it felt that it was different but i thought because the alignment was messed up and i busted one shock,, i took it to the dealer today ,, hopefully they will finish it by tomorrow , thanks everyone for the replies . omar302
Of course handling will be worse, even without anything else being damaged. Going from 40 series wide tires to 65-series tires will make feel like the car is a bit sloppy with slower wheel reaction in turns. Don't forget also that you selected size is both narrower & higher than stock 18" tires (245/60/18 stock vs. 235/65/18).
JETZ
Those wheels are an easy fix! Not like they curbed, and ripped open. I don't get whey you didn't go that route. The 18's might be a bit lighter , not if they're from China cheapies. Don't like all black wheels. Regardless the ugly looking (which is I agree ) is there any advanteges for the new size I've installed.Thank you all for your inputs. mueineddin
After what I've read in here im going to keep the factory wheels and fix them later and put them back ... And about the new tires they're from discount tires im thinking to go return them and put 265/60/18 is that a good idea or just stick with 245/60/18 Thanks everyone.
