Dale
There is a dark patch on the road with the factory headlamps on this 2013 edge. We changed the bulbs to Opt 7 LED bulbs and the patch is still there. Wondering if this is due to the projector style lens. Is anyone else out there seeing this? WWWPerfA_ZN0W
Any defects in the lens? They get pitted, yellowed, even cracked over time. Might be moisture building up on the inside due to a seal failure or a crack. Can you post a pic or two so we can see for ourselves?
enigma-2
Mine has a dark (or dimmed) area as well, probably a function of the shape of the projectors and unevenness of the light source. I suspect that if we could get a uniform light source (filaments and LEDS have uneven illumination points) this dark area would vanish. ctphelps08
Had a simialair problem, dealership "adjusted" them, now the high beams disappear when activated. Anyone else have this?
enigma-2
Do you know if they adjusted the high beams down, or the low beams up?
normcloutier
There is no hi beam/low beam. It's a single lamp with a shutter that cuts off the top of the light for low beam. Activating high beam just moves the shutter so the light shines higher..
Nick Halstead
where is the dark spot located? If your not used to driving a car with projector lighting than it is an adjustment. If you don't really know anything about a projectors light cutoff you could be referring to the left side in front of driver as it's usually cut off not to shine into oncoming traffics eyes. WWWPerfA_ZN0W
2007-10 are definitely separate units. 2011-2014 utilize the shutter for hi/lo functionality. In the 2015+ the halogens are once again separate, like the 07-10, but not sure about HID hi/lo.
ctphelps08
The dark spot I had was in the middle of the beams in the front. However, after going to a local shop at work, they were working on a late model SUV interceptor. Showed me about laying down the front facade, doing so I removed the headlight and found that my bulbs were not in properly. One of the ears on the edge of the bulb was not in the guide. I miss the old fashioned plastic ones you can see!
