Djtj
So this is weird and hard to explain, but ill do my best. If i have the AC cranked, its not a problem, but this morning was chilly up in these parts, so the heater was on. Even on a low fan setting, there was a loud fan noise, but seemed to be coming from the back somewhere. Its like a high pitch fan noise, and gets worse the more you turn up the fan speed. Only with the heat, not with the ac. is this normal? had to turn up the radio farily loud to drown it out... thanks!
Vadimus
Could it be seat fan(s)? I hear it if I set seat cooling to the max. Not annoying though, just noticeable.

All Hat No Cattle
Are the vents in the back of the console wide open?
DougS
I just noticed a similiar issue with mine this morning, first time it was cool enough for the heat to come on instead of AC. I have a very loud air movement noise that is coming from the rear of the console,. I sat in the back seat and confirmed this. Funny thing is, for as loud as it is, there is very little air movement coming out of these vents, (and yes, I made sure they were open). I turned off my "auto" setting, and turned the fan up manually all the way and still very little air out of the vents. So I lowered my temperature setting down to allow the AC to come on instead, then all kinds of air blasted through the vents, and the air noise I was hearing was gone. I wonder if there is some type of "flap" that closes or partially closes to cut back on the air out of these vents when heat is on, and it is causing this loud air noise I am hearing, (increases the noise due to the resistance)? akirby
I'm not positive, but I think there may be a floor vent in the rear console tied to the floor vent in the front (typically used for heat unless you override it) and the vents are tied to the front vents (typically used for cold air). When the heat is on and you hear the noise, check for hot air coming from around the bottom of the console for the rear seats.
DougS
Yes, there is heat at the bottom of the front seats coming out to the rear, but this air noise I am hearing is coming from near the two vents at the rear top of the console. It is almost like whatever they use to close off those two vents to keep the hot air from coming out of them is right there, and the air is blasting against it. Djtj
So im NOT crazy!! wahoooo!! lol So now my question, is it normal? does everone have this? on a semi-side note - how fast does everyone's seats heat up? are they electric or vented? My gf has a mazda 3 and after 5 min your ass is literally cooking, i had mine on for id say 10-15 min the other morning when it was chilly and didn't even realize they were on... is that normal as well? DougS
I am planning on stopping by my dealer soon and let the service advisor listen to it to see if this is normal. I'll let you know what they say after I do.
