Kurt Pearson
Has anyone had any luck finding an affordable solution for winter rims for the 2015? Seems like they don't exist and I really don't want to pony up for nice wheels just to destroy them over winter.
Helgy1972
That is cause they don't exist, steel rims anyway, Because ford changed the wheel bolt pattern and went to lager brakes for 2015. So the 17' steel wheel will no longer work like it used to. And they don't make that bolt pattern in a 18" rim, so have to go to a Alum. wheel. edmonton.guy
I am in the same situation. Due to the bigger brake rotors and shoe, none of the rims I have tried fit. Even 2015 OEM Escape rims didn't fit on my 2015 Edge which is pissing me off. What is the cheapest solution for rims?
Kurt Pearson
$200/wheel for cheap winter alloys... That's it. That's your only option. Most places is closer to $250/wheel. I've called KalTire, OK Tire, Fountain Tire, and Canadian Tire... Everyone has about the same pricing on winter alloys. Only other option is hope someone sells the factory wheels on Kijiji... But that's not gonna happen. Over $2000 for winters is just stupid. Wish I would have known, I would have bought a different car.
enigma-2
Just looked on tirerack.Com. looks like cheapest is $117 ea. for 18/8.
edmonton.guy
I feel the same. I would have bought a different vehicle too if I had known about this before. Well I found a wheel online which is for about $150 each, but I am not sure if it will fit. They are claiming it will fit on 2015 Edge. Kurt Pearson
What size is it? Where from? I can't find anything under $200. I'm in Wetaskiwin so anything you find, I can use to.
akirby
Tirerack has a bunch for $126 or less - the lowest one is $105. http://www.tirerack.com/wheels/results.jsp?autoMake=Ford&autoModel=Edge&autoYear=2015&autoModClar=Titanium&package=false
Kurt Pearson
Ya. . .this is where being in Canada sucks that much worse. After shipping, exchange and other assorted charges, the total on four $117 rims with no TMPS or anything else is just shy of $1000. $957.81 to be exact. So that's $239.45/tire. Ordering anything out of the states is pretty much a no go at this point. We have to find something local.
akirby
Simple - rent a storage shed just across the border and have the new wheels and tires shipped there. Buy a floor jack and a tire tool. Drive to the storage shed twice a year and swap out your wheels and tires. You guys are overthinking this......
edmonton.guy
@Kurt this is the website I found those wheels: https://pmctire.com/en/ After adding TPMS sensors, it was around $900 Canadian for the set of 4 wheels. That is the cheapest I could find. This is a Quebec company so there is no Duty.
Kurt Pearson
Aftermarket TPM sensors are awful. I learned that lesson. I'll be getting mine from Ford. Thanks for the heads up though!
edmonton.guy
Also, they claim to have steel rims too: https://winter-tires.pmctire.com/enw/steel-wheel-18x8-5x108-65-1-40-noir-black.tire
edmonton.guy
Good to know about the aftermarket sensors. I would have ordered there Now I will just get it from Ford.
Kurt Pearson
Ya. My guy at the local tire shop quit trying to find ones that work. Now he just sends customers to Ford
Kurt Pearson
Ok, they may be the only place on the planet with 18" 5x108 steels. That's all I want. Ordering ASAP. Crossing my fingers!!!
edmonton.guy
Hey Kurt, I just called them. DON'T ORDER the steel ones. Its not gonna fit. Its a glitch in their website.
edmonton.guy
The rep confirmed the TOUREN TR models would fit fine. Those are the cheapest Alloys they got.
Kurt Pearson
Dammit. I knew it was too good to be true.
edmonton.guy
Ya, I have searched and searched. Cannot find the steel rims for this anywhere. I have ford explorer 2014 rims with almost brandnew winter tires on it, but cannot use those I might be ordering the Touren TR60 if cannot find anything cheaper: https://winter-tires.pmctire.com/enw/touren-tr60-5x108-114-3-gris-gunmetal-gunmetal-18x8-offset-deport-40-72-6.tire
knickerbocker
Yikes! Allow Winter Rims are not cheap! Checking with the dealer for some winter steelies that I can throw some blizzaks on. Looks like it might even be cheaper to swap tires on stock rims.
Kurt Pearson
The whole point of this thread is that winter steelies don't exist. Swapping onto stock is cheaper but not in the long run.
knickerbocker
No response from dealer parts dept yet. Looking online there are many options for alloys, but still pushes over $2k with tax/shipping. Might just buy the tires and swap them on my rims, but I'd rather have a separate set for those mid-winter trips south.
INDRUCUL
Hi Guys. New to this forum. I have an 15 Edge. I been getting tires and rims from a local dealer for years who claims they have rims that would fit as of 2 weeks ago. I will be calling back to make sure. Their website is http://simplytire.com/ . Here is their pricing page for all Ford's winter tires/rims http://simplytire.com/winter/fordpdf.pdf . Prices are very reasonable aswell.
