onyxbfly
My friend told me that the orange rain x stains his cars..... I never had a problem with it....Decided to put it my black edge and never really gave any thought to it until I needed to use it.... FF few weeks later I use my windshield washer and it stains. What is the best/ preferred windshield washer fluid to use. Apart from running it through the system is there a easy way to drain it? Thanks in advance. WWWPerfA_ZN0W
I assume you could open up the right hand fender splash shield and disconnect the hoses to drain the reservoir. There was a howto on replacing the washer pump on YT that should provide a visual aid:
onyxbfly
Thanks for the visual... What would you suggest replacing it with. I don't think I have ever seen stains on a car before from windshield washing fluid.
WWWPerfA_ZN0W
I'm not the right person to ask, I use any cheapo fluid with the right freeze rating (lower in wintertime) Are you looking for a product to coat your glass? If so, apply the RainX directly. Or get Aquapel (better). Or get by FlyBy30 (best). Maybe a sealant for your paint would protect it from staining, a wax wouldn't cut it for long. Then you could continue to use RainX WWF. Although that seems like the cart leading the horse.
onyxbfly
I thought that using the orange Rain X would be the easiest albeit the cheapest soloution. I have used Rain X directly in the past. I just happened to be out and figured might as well kill two birds with one stone. I've seen Aquapel before but never heard of FlyBy30. If you do a quick google for Rain X stains paint you will see it on plenty of forums. If I have time this weekend I'll drain it and get something cheap that has antifreeze properties in it. Thanks for the advice.
WWWPerfA_ZN0W
Yeah, it is too bad about the stains. Could've been a real timesaver. Great idea, not so great implementation.
enigma-2
If you read the reviews on Amazon, they are overwhelming negative. A common complaint is the crap coats the electrical connectors in the resivoir and leaves the low fluid light on permanently. Chrysler has a TSB on repairing the electronic sensor but makes it clear the owner is responsible for the costs. Another complaint is under certain curcumstances the fluid coats the windshield with a white film making it impossible to see clearly. This stuff is complete crap.
