Chipster
It is all VIN related unless you have a specific problem.
akirby
What is the update number or version I need to be looking for? Just have them check for any updates. The exact version changes.

msawdust
Experienced engine shut down after making a right hand turn a couple of days ago. Same symptons as others with accessory power on displayed. Called dealer they said no outstanding updates for my car or tsb's. I gave them the tsb number and they aggreed to preform it for me. Hope it does the trick.
WWWPerfA_ZN0W
Good luck, msawdust. At this point, Ford should issue a voluntary recall on the 3.5's and update the PCM calibration.
Chipster
Sadly, if the root cause is the TB then no amount of re-flashing will fix the issue. I went through that experience with the TB of a 2010 2.5 Fusion. Finally Ford realized that my car (and most other 2010's) required both a new TB and new re-flash. After the new TB and re-flash were changed we have had zero problems with the scary engine stall while driving problem.
akirby
The reflash merely makes it more tolerant of failures making it less likely to shut down completely, but it's not supposed to fix the root cause of the problem.

I agree, but Ford tried to re-flash our car a couple of times before enough people were having the same problem and did the customer satisfaction notice to replace the TB. akirby
What I'm saying is that it depends on how the TB was failing. For some owners where it was just on the threshold that caused a failure the reflash may get rid of the problem. For others like you it won't. Obviously if the TB was completely kaput it won't help. anile_eight
If I follow this correctly, this seems to be an issue with the 3.5EB and not the 2.7EB motor correct?
WWWPerfA_ZN0W
The 3.5 NA (naturally aspirated) motor (the Edge does not have the 3.5EB motor), correct. The 2.7EB is not involved.
