My cluster lights keep going out during the day along with my ford touch lights

I have a 2011 Ford Edge with over 75k miles…

I have been having a problem with the instrument cluster lights.

Sometimes when I'm driving, mainly during the day the speedometer turns dark, to the point that the lights are completely off and I can't read anything on the panel.

I have tried adjusting the dimmer control, but that doesn't help.

I drive the car with the headlight knob turn all the way to the right 'auto' and when the cluster lights go out, if I turn the headlight knob to the off position the cluster lights will go on very bright.

This happens day or night, mostly day and happens a lot when the bright sun hits the car.

When this happens the 'my ford touch' navigation panel, which always has a white background changes and the white background turns to a black background. post-37076-0-73311100-1439922848_thumb.jpgBoth the cluster panel lights and the navigation background happens together every time.

I can drive the car for hours and everything is fine, and for no apparent reason, everything will go dark. Sometimes it happens when I start the car, but mostly while I'm driving.

I have had this in the dealership twice now, they have been in touch with Ford about the problem, tomorrow the dealership service will take the car in again for more tests…

Anyone else with this problem? It's driving me crazy

You can set your display to automatically change between day/night mode (dims all lights at night to be less abrasive). It sounds like this is what you are describing. You can go into the settings and disable the auto switch and manually choose day or night mode - whichever you prefer.

Hope this helps!
