Frisco1522
Just discovered my new Titanium that I got on 7-29 with Package 301A doesn't have rain sensing wipers! I took it for granted that it did. Doing some snooping, I see that I would have had to have 302A with all the driver assist options. I couldn't find anything in the whole area with that package when I was shopping. Disappointed, since my 2012 Limited had them. Live and learn. Other than that, I'm tickled with the car. The '12 had the Ecoboost 4 and this has the non Ecoboost 6.
WingNut
The rain sensing wipers kind of annoy me. So I don't use the option.
jalm111
Best is when you go into a car wash and forget you had them on auto
POWERSTROKE
My '06 Volvo S40 has rain sensing wipers. A very annoying option. I would not want them on another car.
cv27
I don't understand why you guys are knocking off rain sensing wipers. I use them all the time when I'm driving in the rain for a significant amount of time (> 10 min.), BUT I shut them off the rest of the time. It's not a perfect system though: they will occasionally start flipping on a sunny day when I enter the garage ??? when there is already rain on the windshield and I start the car, it won't activate until more rain falls, so I need to manually flip
WWWPerfA_ZN0W
+ RainX - wipers = happy motorist --- if you can believe the claims
omar302
they will occasionally start flipping on a sunny day when I enter the garage ??? There was a TSB for this to replace the sensor. TSB 11-11-12 for Uncomanded wipe. Edited August 14, 2015 by omar302
cv27
Isn't that a 2011 TSB? I would have expected this to be fixed in a 2015, but apparently not.

Thing that irritates me more than anything is the Volvo sits so low the windshield gets sprayed if the road has any moisture at all. I'm constantly turning wipers on/off. Rain sensing can delay wipers coming on for several seconds while following a car on wet roads with a road splashed windshield.
djrjr
My Sport has rain sensing wipers. I went in and disabled them before I left the dealer lot. I'd much rather have full control of my wipers. My 2003 Town Car has rain sensing wipers too but there is no way to disable them. What's maddening with the Town Car's set up is if you start the car with the rain sensing wipers on it does one swipe to let you know it's on. So if you have a dry windshield it just wipes a dry windshield. I thought the whole point was to be able to leave the auto wipers on and go about your driving. So now to prevent scratches and extend wiper life I have to turn on the auto wipers when it rains then turn them off when I turn off the car. Seems counter productive. akirby
I've had rain sensing wipers on my last 3 vehicles over 15 years and love them. I get an occasional dry swipe (maybe 2-3 times a year) and every once in a while I have to kick them off manually but I don't want a car without that feature now. rockymtnsport
I have them on my Sport and honestly you aren't missing much. They rarely activate when it rains, so I have to adjust the sensitivity constantly to get them to do their job. Then like others have mentioned, they will occasionally throw a wipe in at seemingly random times on sunny days. I have auto wipers on my BMW and Caddy and they both work significantly better than the Edge auto wipers...
TheWizard
I have auto wipers on my BMW and Caddy and they both work significantly better than the Edge auto wipers... Agreed... I had automatic wipers on a former BMW and they were exactly what automatic wipers should be - set them once and forget them. They would turn on when needed, adjust speed based on rainfall rate, and almost never wipe when they weren't needed (actually I don't remember a dry wipe ever). Edge automatic wipers are a beta version compared to BMW. They work (mostly) and once you get them started and adjusted in the rain they adapt pretty well but they require a lot of fiddling with the control - almost as much as ordinary wipers.
