What an amazing machine...

I have just joined this forum, and am delighted to see that there is a forum just for the Edge. It's the best looking and performing Midsized SUV I have ever owned, and probably the most refined Ford I have ever had the pleasure to be paired up with.

I am a former professional mechanic, and an old school gearhead, and nobody will ever pry the keys out of my pushrod-driven, Windsor building hands, but I am slowly coming to embrace new technology, and the Ford Edge is nothing short of a masterpiece.

Glad to be here.

I've driven Fords my whole life and I will say that the 11 and up Edge/MKX is probably the most solid vehicle Ford has produced. My 2003 F150 is a close second. I never had any major problems with all my Explorers, Broncos, Taurus's and Mustangs but they always turned into rattle-traps around 50,000 miles. I've got 60,000 on my 11 SEL and she still feels new.

LOL. Indeed, that's true. Nothing a few new panel clips cannot help to quell, though.

I still love the 1992-1996 F150s and Broncos, and have one of each of those years. They do like to rattle, but they cannot be killed by anything.

The Edge is a totally different beast. It's incredibly refined, and even my "slow" 265HP 2010 model is quick as all get out. She waits for nothing, and the electronic tranny kickdown is immediate and surgical. Mine is equipped with 18" wheels and 245/60s, and I can stick this thing anywhere, instantly.

The interior is dead quiet, the leather is luxurious, the sound system rivals anything offered from Bavaria, and the spaciousness inside seems impossible from a car that is no larger than this. The creature comforts are simply ridiculous, and I like them all.

I suspect I am in for the long haul, and as a former mechanic (and yes; I've looked under the hood, and admittedly, have been a bit daunted--sigh) I figure I can service whatever needs to be done myself.

Thanks for your post, and your welcome.

Thank you for the welcome.

I suspect it will. I do not think I've ever loved another car more. I've had faster cars, and I've had posher cars, but I do not believe I've ever owned a car that was all-round better than this car. This car does everything well, and it's a hoot to drive!

Regards-
