Hello All , I need help finding the factory code for the door keypad to lock and unlock the doors. The manual says it is on the owners card ,but the Edge was bought used and the card is missing. On my 2007 Taurus i found the code on the control modual under the dash. But no luck on the Edge.Is ther any way to get code without paying dealer $70.00 to but on pc. Thanks for any help!

Grey said it all. That is exactly what I would do also and that should definitely work. Your dealer can also look up the VIN and that will give Key Code and should give door unlock code also.

A hospital is a big building with lots of patiences in it, and stop calling me Shirley.

Good Luck we are all counting on you.

Hi billpinsc. :D According to the Owners Manual, if you do not know the "Factory Set" code, and have lost or do not have the "Wallet Card" with the "Factory Set" code, you need to go to your Dealer to have them recover the code.

As to Lex's questions: Yes the "Factory Code" is a "Master Code".

If you have the "Factory Set" master code, you can then set up to three other "Personal Codes". These "Personal Codes" can be erased or changed whenever you wish. However, the "Factory Set Code" is always still active and cannot be erased or changed.

Good luck! :beerchug:

FYI, on my Excursion the code is on a sticker on the side of the radio. Hope this helps.

Does the dealer need to vehicle to look this info up? I purchased from an out of town dealership and didn't get a keycode card. This is a brand new vehicle - not used. When I called them they said I would have to bring it back to them in order to retrieve the number.

Hi Tink83. :D According to the Owners Manual, you must bring your vehicle to the Dealership.

I would tend to think that most/all Dealers would not do this over the phone, for liability purposes. Could you imagine the legal liability they would face if they gave your "Factory Code" to a stranger, or someone trying to gain access illegally to your vehicle?

Some members have supplied anecdotal evidence that their vehicles (other than the Edge) have the code hidden in various places on the vehicle (most commonly they will state they found it on the PCM box or the side of the radio), but I have not seen anyone verify that information for the Edge yet. I really think you will need to visit the Dealer.

Sorry for the following questions, but are you sure you checked all of the paperwork enclosed in your new vehicle folder for the card? Checked inside your Owners Manual to be sure it was not stapled inside the cover? You do have the exterior keypad on your drivers door, correct?

If you do have the keypad, and you don't have the card, once you have gone to the Dealer, it is a simple procedure for the Dealer to enter the proper information into the system to retrieve your original "Factory Set Code".

Will you be taking it there for routine service (oil changes and such)? If yes, and it is a long drive, why not wait until your first needed service visit to get the code? Just a thought.

Good luck! :beerchug:

Thanks - I was hoping to avoid a long delay in getting the code since I've had the car for almost two months already and it only has 700 miles on it so it may be a while before it goes in for routine maintenance.

Anyway, happy ending here. While searching for a code sticker I found the actual code card, in a plastic bag taped to the module behind a panel just as it came from the factory I assume. Someone just dropped the ball somewhere along the way and didn't put it in the owner's manual book.

I'm really glad I found it 'cause it would have bugged me all weekend! Now returning to our regular scheduled programming... :beerchug:
