shumax
In the car now on our summer road trip. Get an hour away from home and the TMPS warning comes on. It sounds and then flashes the light on the dash. Eventually it goes solid and then it went away. An hour, or so, later it came back and went through the same cycle. Tire pressure is fine and I see nothing wrong with any of the tires. I suspect a sensor on its way out. How can I determine which one? Thanks, Shumax
WWWPerfA_ZN0W
You have to have a dealership/tire center determine which sensor(s) may be at fault, or whether it is the module itself. Start by pulling codes from the PCM (via the OBD), then play with tire pressures (one tire at a time). That's about all you can DIY. There might be PIDs that Torque Pro can poll for you if your Edge is 2010+, I don't know what they would be, to show you individual tire pressure. I know 2010+ SHO's/Flex's/Explorers etc can monitor them.
akirby
Did you actually test the tire pressure with a gauge? If so then it does sound like a sensor.
shumax
Tire pressure was set to 36PSI on all four last evening before we left. Will check again later, but doubt it changed that much. Condition is intermittent, which tells me something is "on its way out." Thanks, all!
shumax
Back from the trip and it never came back on. Perhaps we scared it away?!
WWWPerfA_ZN0W
If it happens again, you can always try having the sensors re-trained.
