ruby1025
Hey Edge enthusiasts. I started a new thread here as my other one didn't contain what I am experiencing now. I have 2,040 miles on my 2015 Edge Sport AWD. Had it since May. Among my list of concerns I started having a new one two weeks ago. I was on i88 going about 65 mph and went to pass on the left and I had no boost, no horsies. It was almost an accident as the driver behind me was going faster then I was when it failed and he was NOT happy with me (gave me the universal sign as he floored his taurus around me). I heard some odd noise when it happened, can't say if it was a boom or a hiss or what. But when I accelerate now I hear a hissing noise, like blowing air escaping but little boost. I am getting great gas mileage now, though, was getting about 19 which is great on AWD Edge Sport for my driving. But now am at 22! Anyway, I took it in for service and they said they reprogramed the computer and it should adjust and correct itself. Well today on a turn, I got the Powertrain / AWD system failure alarm (wrench) on the dash. First time. Ford said to get it in soon. So I will update after it's looked at. Going to hit them up to fix my sunroof rattle for the 4th time since they can't seem to figure it out!! My saga continues.... I recently posted two files to this edited posting showing that I believe my intercooler hoses are connected. WingNut
Sounds like this to me: http://www.fordedgeforum.com/topic/17892-2015-sport-complete-loss-of-boost/ Especially the fact you heard a popping sound. They need to check to ensure that hose is connected properly.
JOEHIO
Hmmmm, would scare the crap out of me. Thank god you are okay, and didn't have a accident. Hope your dealer can figure out what is wrong.
ruby1025
Thanks guys. I noted that post as well and printed it out for dealer, the service tech didn't comment on it when I picked up the car, sadly. I found a ton of posts about this Fault issue but in the Escape, Taurus, older Fusions, etc. One said it was the ETC, one said accelerator pedal assembly sensor. Who knows. But it seems to be intermittent. I just started it up and ran it around here a bit, no wrench. Still sluggish but not restricted to first gear or anything. I am glad I was ok too. Some folks were not so lucky. One person got hit, one was almost jack knifed by a semi! I will update once I have it serviced Friday. Hope I can drive it until then. ruby1025
Update as I was driving home last night (before dealer visit) I had to stop on the gas and go around someone and my service engine and powertrain / awd malfunction lights both came on. The service engine light is staying on after restart. Seems to drive ok. RPMs are not exceptionally high. Was up to 55 MPH today. At least now I know that Ford will get some codes and be able to replace something Friday. I hope this won't be a chronic issue for my Edge. WWWPerfA_ZN0W
Sure hope the dealership can figure this out quickly, and then that's the last of the worries for a long long time.
tron1974
I think potential issues like this will lead me to buy the an extended warranty from Ford. I wonder which dealer can give me the best price.

I wonder which dealer can give me the best price. I've always had good deals through Lombard Ford online.
ruby1025
I agree. I purchased the ESP for this car as well, even if I don't keep them very long. Never know what will pop up.
POWERSTROKE
Ruby1025 - If your problem is the same as that other Edge was, a hose that blew off, your Edge has been running on unfiltered air all the time you have been running it, which sounds like it has been a considerable number of miles. That could be bad for long term durability of a brand new engine. I can completely understand needing to drive your brand new car.... But I would have thought your dealer would have bent over backwards to get your car repaired immediately for this kind of problem. For a properly trained service tech the repair takes 5-10 minutes! If the service writer makes you wait for these kinds of repairs, the service MANAGER, or GENERAL MANAGER would be the next guy I would talk to. ruby1025
Here is the update: I didn't have the wrench lamp on, but did have the check engine lamp on, took it to Ford first thing on Friday morning. They ran the codes, didn't tell me what they found, but said it was a hose that came off the intercooler. The tech said it took him all day to get it back on and clear the codes as it was under everything else. Then he drove it to see if it had pickup and it did. Powerstroke: I only drove it home and to work which was under $100 miles, but I understand your concern. Ford service didn't have any objection to my waiting, didn't say I could ruin my engine either. I will push next time to get it in sooner. They are buried under transmission issues in ford focus from what I heard. Next the tech looked into my rattle in the pano moonroof. He said that it didn't rattle on his 2 min test drive. I didn't get a call tho, I walked in the door at the end of the day and we went for a quick ride, but it was 92 degrees, humid as all heck and did no rattle! I was so frustrated. I can't keep dropping my car off at Ford to have the rattle listened too when it's 70 and dry and early in the am, only to wait till 3 pm when hot and humid to test drive it. Sad thing is, it rattles for me all the time. Did it today on the way. I played the videos I took of it. They said it's proof, so the service agent said they would call Ford and ask the techs what should be done for my rattle, based on other drivers having this complaint or possibly other models that have the pano moonroof that have this complaint. They would call me back this week and let me know what they find out. I told them I won't hold my breath. I may be moving onto my 3rd ford dealer in August. 4 service visits and still no fix to the rattle. The Edge is fast again though thankfully, until it falls off again.... Djtj
I just got my edge yesterday. Had 15km's on it. Got on the on ramp to the highway. No juice. Wrench and check engine light. Back to the dealer. Told them (because of this forum) probably a hose came loose. 1 hour later I was back in business. Hope this won't be an ongoing issue
POWERSTROKE
Everything I have that's turbocharged is rather low psi, Volvo is 10 psi, '96 7.3L PSD is 15-16 psi, never had a problem in almost half a million miles blowing a hose off. SON's new '14 RAM 2500 W/CUMMINS makes 30 psi boost. I really doubt the Ecoboost makes anywhere near that much pressure. I'm sure it's due to a less than optimal design and assemblers not getting the clamps tight enough in assembly. The power wrenches they tighten the clamps with need to be calibrated at specific intervals, monthly, quarterly, etc. If someone was to really force the issue with their dealer I suspect QA & engineering could investigate the issue today or tomorrow!
