brownc72
On 30 Jun 15‚ my wife departed for work and the car was in perfect condition. She drove to work‚ picked up our child enroute home and did not drive to lunch that day. Upon arrival at home‚ she pointed out that the rear vista glass roof panel had cracked for no apparent reason. We dropped it off at Cowles Ford in Woodbridge, VA with the expectation the factory warranty or the additionally purchased extended bumper to bumper warranty would cover the issue. Cowles Ford informed us that Ford Corporate told them telephonically how to "test" for an impact area and based on their newly learned "test"‚ they determined it was a rock and an insurance claim instead. I disagreed because there are cracks throughout the entire glass and they do not intersect with the alleged point of impact. I asked my insurer (USAA) to have a claims specialist look in depth as well and she pointed out to the dealer that there are other areas that look the same as their alleged point of impact. They have not been able to answer my questions regarding how can a point of impact on one side of the glass have impacted the numerous other areas cracked as well. Yet despite having no answers‚ Ford Corporate trusts their newly found expertise to deny the claim at the dealership level. This is disingenious and I won’t stand for it. The dealer needs to back the claim or get Ford to provide a qualified expert that can support why the claim is denied other than a hunch and on-the-job training by phone...until then, buyers beware especially of the ESP. Natem91
did you get resolution to this issue? I purchased my new edge sport on June 27, noticed the crack in the roof during test drive. I stopped at dealership this past friday and dropped it to them showing them how much worse it had gotten and demanded rental car. It was scheduled to go into the shop today. Seeing as how i am seeing others have had the exact same issue as you and are not getting help, I want to reach out to you and tell you, you are not the only one seeing this and i am so thankful i noticed it prior to purchasing. If i were you i would not settle for FORD not making it right, my butt would be on lots checking others and proving my point. If I can offer any assistance, please let me know, I see you are in VA the same FORD district Rep should be covering your area along with PA. dshamer
Issues like this is why I would not buy another FORD product. Nate, why did you buy damaged goods to begin with?

akirby
It's worth it to me. I like the glass even when it's not open. If you don't use a sunroof much now then it may not be worth it.
ls973800
I leased my 2015 Ford C-Max Energi in April of last year. About 2 or 3 weeks later I noticed a long crack on the Pano-roof, starting in one corner on the driver's front side. Took it to the dealer and they inspected it for any impacts but saw nothing. They submitted pictures to Ford, and about two days later ordered a new roof under warranty. My car had about 250 miles when the crack appeared, and the new roof was installed flawlessly! I have around 6000 miles now and no problems. Ford and the Ford dealership (Classic Ford Mentor, Oh) handled the repair very professionally and in a timely manner. I was also given a loaner while mine was worked on for the 2 days it took.
shakilhossain
The glass on the roof of my 2015 Ford Edge just cracked on Saturday evening (08/27/2016) with a loud noise. Was just driving down an inside road at 40-45mph. No bridges or tall buildings around me for anything to fall on the roof. So doubt it was a stone chip from somewhere that caused the crack. Finding no reasonable explanation, I Googled the issue and found many with similar issues and glasses actually "shattering" and "blowing out".Bought the car in Feb 2016, and had them check out the roof on 08/18/16, because the motor sounded like it was struggling to close the roof. Told it was normal.Sharing my story with pictures and hoping to hear about your experiences with this glass roof. To me it looks like a stress failure. I like it enough to pay extra for it, and assumed Ford Engineers designed it well. Defects can happen, but beginning to wonder now.
akirby
Hard to say. Check the outside very closely for signs of an impact. That's what the dealer is going to do.
