unhapfordownr
This needs to be a recall not a TSB! I have found many people with the same issue. My edge broke down in the middle of rush hour traffic with no warning at all my check engine didnt even cut on until after I turned it off and restarted to see if it would strat again. Shakes violently and has no power to go. It is an over $2000.00 repair on top of the $700 I have already spent to replace output and input shaft speed sensors 6 months ago! I have only had my edge 14 months and have already put almost $3000.00 into it. Both issues have happened in rush hour traffic with no warning at ALL! I take good care of my edge and just had 4 new tires and brakes all the way around put on 2 weeks before my PCM and coils went out on it. FORD PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE ISSUE A RECALL!!! I could have been killed by my Edge losing power in the middle of 6 lanes of rush hour traffic with no warning not to mention the fact that this issue could cause engine to catch fire if there is gas in spark plugs!!! akirby
Ok, you vented your frustration and that's fine, but let's not keep repeating the same post over and over please. This is not a recall issue - that's reserved for things the government deems to be safety related and this doesn't qualify (I understand you disagree but you need to talk to the NHTSA about that). Your vehicle is 10 years old. Even if they had extended the warranty on these components you probably wouldn't be covered. You can probably find a used PCM and new coils at an independent shop for a lot less.
Waldo
fact that this issue could cause engine to catch fire if there is gas in spark plugs!!! Uh, the purpose of a spark plug is to light gas on fire. Your engine doesn't run specifically because the spark plugs are unable to light the gas on fire
luminator
Uh, the purpose of a spark plug is to light gas on fire. Your engine doesn't run specifically because the spark plugs are unable to light the gas on fire And gas does not go in the spark plug?. It is a break down of an 7-10 year old vehicle that is outside factory warranty, its the same as a fuel pump failure, ECM frying, ect. It sucks that it happens but it is not causing fires, exploding tires, cruise control or the GM electric steering failure on the Cobalts all which caused serious or life threatening accidents. Yes a vehicle dying on the freeway is dangerous but it does not come to a crashing stop, you lose power and drift to a stop. It is not a Recall reason, suck up it up and pay for your repair, it is part of older vehicle ownership.
