benoborich
Hi everyone. Just joined this forum but have been a Ford Edge owner since 2008. Am currently driving a 2011 Edge and about to purchase a 2015 Edge Platinum. But I have 2 questions- should I buy the 2.0 eco-boost or the 3.5 V6? And should I go with a black interior or the Ceramic? I test drove an Escape with the 2.0 and it seemed a bit noisy and created some vibration throughout the vehicle when sitting at a stop while in gear so I am concerned it may be the same in the Edge. We live in a small community and a 2.0 Edge was not available for a test drive so if anyone out there has some experience with it i would appreciate your thoughts and comments. We live in Canada bur winter in Texas. My wife thinks the black interior will be too hot. I am concerned that the Ceramic interior (which looks white in the pictures I have seen) will get dirty. Any thought on that issue? Thanks
WWWPerfA_ZN0W
Welcome benoborich, glad to have you and your '11 Edge here!!! Good luck in your search for the '15. As far as heat, consider tinting. With good film, you can significantly cut down on the interior heating or fading. If you get a sunroof, tint that as well.
Redbow
I have a Tuxedo Black 2013 and live in Texas all the time. Sure when it sits in the sun, it gets hot inside. Probably in the 120/130 degrees range or better inside. But the Edge's A/C works so well that in just a very short time it cools things off. I'd say interior color is not a major issue. Get what you like and what you think will hold up the best. And by the way "welcome to the Great State of Texas" even if it's only for short periods. summer67
Either engine should serve work out well. I had a tough time deciding upon which engine to go with, and ultimately ended up with the 2.0 Ecoboost. With only about 1k miles on our 2015 SEL, we are pleased with the performance of the 2 liter. But the 3.5 is a decent engine as well. My 2012 Mustang has the 3.7 engine, and its a great engine. Really like out black interior. Its set off nicely with the trim pieces around the doors and dash area. Not too hot inside here in Calif. Good luck with your choice. fishx65
Tough call but I like the power and proven reliability of the 3.5. These days I would be tempted to go for the best MPG but I'm not sure if the 2.0 does that much better then the 3.5.
jrSS
Not to mention the turboed 2.0 is a 10 year 150k mileage engine. Guess we will find out in a couple years if ford really made the ecoboost last that long. I like my 3.7. Of course I like NA engines. cv27
I had the V6 (3.5L) in my previous 2008 and 2011. I got the 2.0EB in the 2015. I am still impressed at the torque this EB has, works for me, but I can feel the slight advantage the 3.5L had in, for example, ramping up to a highway because of its HP. I wish I could have ordered the 2.7EB on the Titanium... As far as MPG or L/100km for us up north, I haven't so far been impressed with any gain from the 4 cylinder, but then I'm only at about 1000 km and I'm not the most patient driver with the gas pedal. I chose Cognac for the interior: I've seen too many black interiors and ceramic/beige dirties up too easily. Heat absorption wise, I guess it's a compromise between the extremes, black or white. But as another poster mentioned, the sun poring into the vehicle from all sides including the panoramic roof will heat up any interior, nothing that an 'all windows down and AC' can't quickly change. Of all 3 Edges I've owned, this is the best.
good2Bking
I have a '13 SEL Tuxedo Black exterior and medium light stone interior. Love it, but if I had it to do over, would go with the charcoal int. Get a dealer installed remote start and the car is cool by the time you get in (and warm in winter too). I have the 3.5L V6. My daughrer has the 2.0 Eco Boost in her '15 Escape. I definitely prefer the V6. Welcome to the forum.
