mestguy182
Hello All, I have a 2011 Ford Edge SEL that I installed a Viper 5706 in. I used to do car audio install professionally and the install was pretty straight forward but I've been having an issue where sometimes after remote starting the engine cuts off. This can happen, 30 seconds or 10 minutes after remote starting. I don't think it's the bypass since the remote start works fine most of the time, and the times it does shut off are usually after it's been running for a little while. I used virtual tach when I installed the 5706, my best guess is I need to run an actual tach wire and see if that fixes anything. The other thing I noticed is that the engine seems to shut off more frequently a few seconds after a door opens, not every time though. I used the dome light for my doorpin input, wondering if that is somehow causing an issue too. Thanks for any help you can offer!
gary712
it sounds like the RS is programmed for tach. All the newer fords do not require a tach signal. I am not familar with the viper. Just go back into programming and set it for no tach or try voltage or hybrid or whatever they use that has a no tach setting.
mestguy182
Thanks for the reply. The alarm is set by default to use virtual tach (tachless) and it works most of the time. I tried relearning tach once but it didn't seem to work. Any other ideas?
gary712
for tach wire use a wire from from one of the fuel injectors. pin 1 grn/blu gry/yel pur/gry yel/org brn or grn/wh
mestguy182
Thanks. I actually set the Tach type from Virtual Tach to Voltage and so far I haven't had an issue. I will definitely grab tach from the Fuel Injectors if the problem starts back up. Thanks!
